Default Simulators G2 or Reflex?

Has anyone tried the Reflex sim for helis. I have G2 and can fly my real heli (as a beginner) better than I can fly the G2. Have been thinking about trying the Reflex Sim.

Reflex is a great sim, but the thing you have to keep in mind before you buy it is, will your computer run it? It takes a pretty good computer (video card) to make Reflex run right, and get a good FPS.

It would be easier if you tell us what the specs are for your computer and we can tell you if Reflex will run on it.
You can buy Reflex at [link=http://ecsvr.com/mta/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=17&cat=Simulators]MTA Hobbies[/link] or you should be able to get it at most of the big on-line hobby shops.

I'm very satisfied with the Reflex sim. Very easy to add scenery and models, great graphics, very accurate response. 50-60 fps most of the time.

I been flying a GWS Dragonfly FP and wanted to go to a CP. After smashing up my Hummingbird beyond repair I decided to get a sim. I done the same as you and looked for some advice on sims. I decided to go with the REFLEX. Dude this thing is AWESOME. Trust me great customer support as I had a little problem when installing. It would not let my JR radio control it. I called the Support number and the guy knew exactly what I had to do and 3 minutes later WHAM I was flying. MAN what a awesome program. Trust me if your computer will run it then get it.

ANYONE know how to get new helis and scenery to download, what is the web site to upgrade.

When you unzip it, you send it right to the Reflex folder you want it in. If it is a heli, you send it to the "HELI FOLDER", if it's an airplane you you send it to the "FLUGZEUG FOLDER". IF you look in your Reflex file, you will see both of them folders in there.

Then you just start up your Reflex and go into the models and you should see them in there.

CHARLIE:

Here is the problem Im having. When I go to unzip it it tells me that it cant be unzipped because windows doesnt reconize the file. It then gives me the option for the internet to find it. The internet cant even find the file. So basicly im stuck with an icon of a file on my computer that is worthless. I have windows XP so I know my computer isnt outdated.

If you have the trex and zoom downloaded and unzipped could you e mail it to me so I dont have to unzip it.

Thanks Alan

Download [link=http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm]WinRAR[/link], it's free and will work great. It will tell you it's only good for 30 day (or something like that), but it will work forever. It's a great program for unzipping files

Once you download WinRAR and install it, just double click on your file and RAR will open it, then just look on the top of the WinRAR page and you will see "Extract To", just click on that and then send the file to the right folder in Reflex. Once you do it once, you find it very easy to do. That WinRAR is a great program.

Charlie do you know if it will run on a laptop?I ran G2 with no problem but not sure about Reflex I called MRC and asked them and they said yes but I am not sure about trusting them because they could just want to make a sale.My laptop has a P4 3.2 Gig with Hyper threading,a ATI 9200 mobility radeon video card and 1 Gig of memory, and it has a 80gig hd in it and a 160gig external hd.I would like to have it but I don't want to buy it and it not work and be stuck with it as for my radio I know it would work with it is a 9CHPS.Any help would be appreciated and thanks.

That laptop should run it. I run it on one half that size. I didn't get a very high frame rate, but it did work. I don't think you will get a real good frame rate either with that video card, but it should run it. Here is a chart that mite give you an idea on how your video card will work.

No, you have to use your own radio (for Reflex). Real flight simulator comes with it own controller, and I think AFP does to, but I'm not sure (you would have to check on that).

The best thing to do is download the demo version, it's free and it will tell you if it will work on your computer.

Charlie I did the download and it seems to work fine but since I don't have any way to control it I can only run the demo the heli moves a little slow but isn't there a way to change some things on the program to speed it up something like turning off some things that really don't make that much difference but eat up resources on the computer???

No, you can't control it. It's just a demo to see if it will work on your computer. There is lots of settings in the simulator where you can change stuff. You can change the resolution so you can get a little better frame rate. What were you getting for a frame rate? If you were getting anymore then around 20 fps, you should be fine. I run it on an old computer I use to have and I was only getting 20 fps and it worked fine (it didn't chop).

My frame rate are between 15 & 30, mostly 20FPS. I have the low end 5200 video card on a P3 - 1Ghz. It works OK. The sticks are just a little slow.

At first it was kind of slow but I upgraded my video and sound drivers and it then worked better than the old G2 that I had so after seeing this I ordered it yesterday and hopefully I will have it by Friday again thank you for your help.
