I purchased a Blade CP and seem to have a rotor head vibration problem. At 1/4 speed the head begins to vibrate and much beyond that the entire helicopter is shaking. Obviously I need to make adjustments but I'm not sure where to begin. This problem started 2 days after I first started learning how to fly and I've not tried yet to lift off but focusing on holding position while light on the skids. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

First off did you balance the blades? They are not balanced till you do it. You have to find the center of each blade first, that is where you will add tape if needed. Don't measure them for center, balance them and mark where center is then balance the 2 blades together and if one is lighter add some clear tape on the mark you made till the balance the same. Also, was it okay then you crashed and now it's shaking? If so you might have bent the main shaft.

Hello Raz and thanks for the reply. The heli has tipped over but not really "crashed" but I guess that depends on what you call a crash. Once I got the blades tracking it seemed ok but then the vibration started. WRT balancing the blades, are you refering to total weight or weight distribution for a single blade? I'm really new at this so please forgive the simple questions. I've seen a few posts on blade balance but I'm not sure if there is more than one method for a type of balance.

No problem , we all have to ask questions. To find the center of each blade take them off the heli. You can use a ruller or a razor blade in a vise. Set the blade on the razor and move it till you find the center to where it will balance and make a mark there then do the same for the other blade. This is where to add tape if needed. Now you can bolt the 2 blades together and balance the 2 till they weigh the same. If you have to add some clear tape to one put it on the blade where you marked it. Here is a link that will show how.

Here is a blade balancer, this is the kind you want to balance your blades [link]http://www.heliproz.com/ksj528balancer.html[/link] Search for that balancer online and buy it or buy it directly from heliproz.com

Great information guys, thanks! Now, any particular type of tape and what else should I consider if this does not solve the problem?

I just use clear Scotch tape. If you still have a vibration make sure you didn't bend the main shaft. If you have only tipped it over then the shaft is probably okay but you could have bent the feathering shaft. The ones the blade grips attach to. Did you ding a blade so it is not smooth anymore? Also make sure the flybar weights are all the way out and the distance between the paddles to the head are the same. If one paddle has came out a little it will through off your balance. Make sure the paddles are lever too.
