Default pitch gauge

I have a heli max pitch gauge, can someone help me out in using it? it has no instructions...what do i align with the flybar, the top of the red plate or the top of the black hold that slides over the blade and points to the degrees?

Default RE: pitch gauge

level the swashplate and your flybar. place the gauge on one blade close to the root tip. sight along the top (red portion) of the gauge and align it with the flybar. read the measurement. be sure to check both blades for consistency.
