Default am i too lean??

hi i was wondering weather or not u think im running too lean. i have a venture 30 with o.s 37 and it takes off like a bullet and dosent choke or have lack of performance. it idles properly also. except when u bring her in and shut off the engine. I lick my finger and put it on the head and it sizzles for a second. there is still lots of smoke as it fills my yard with smoke. also the bottom of my tuned pipe has brown marks.. thanx in advance

Put your finger on the backplate of the motor. If you can hold it there for 3 seconds or so your ok, if its too hot then your running too lean. If its cold you can lean it a little bit for more power.

I have the same question. I also run a venture 30 but with a OS 32. I'll burn my finger If i touch the back plate BUT if I make it richer just by one click, i get a tremendous loss of power. I can fly around and hover but any manouver that requires power is out of the question. So basically it needs to be hot to get me through the stuff i want to do (a bit of 3d, loops and rolls etc... nothing special but still power-consuming) Btw, my next investment is a OS 37... I just hope the 32 wont burn out too soon.

Light- try bringing your throttle curves down a bit, maybe 5 percent or so and see if that needle setting doesn't get too hot then.

barracudahockey - lol ... maybe next year. Right now I am on a T6XH which as you know doesnt have that option. I think there is some way to adjust the throttle curve a bit so I might give that a try but in reality, with the way I fly now, that 32 will take a lot of beating and I dont know how long it will last. Actually I cant wait till i get something more powerful cause then i'll be able to try things i cant even think of w/ a 32. Anyways.. thanks for your input.

With the heli set-up properly, you can do aeros with a 32.
