POSITIVE/NEGATIVE SHIFT TRANSMITTERS
To: All
Another Question - What is the standard regarding Positive & Negative Shift Rc Transmitters? I'm using a Futaba 9C transmitter, would like to try a Royal, they seem to have different shifts specifications. I assume when you purchase receivers they must match the transmitter (same shift) being used (as well as operating Band - Freq and Mode). Any input would be helpful!
Thanks,
Phillip

RE: POSITIVE/NEGATIVE SHIFT TRANSMITTERS
it depends on the reciever. you can get a dual shift reciever and crystal and it will work with either radio

RE: POSITIVE/NEGATIVE SHIFT TRANSMITTERS
Futaba and Hitec use negitive, Airtronics and JR are positive.
You can use a Polk Seeker-II or Seeker6 with either,
as well as the Hitec Universal flight pack which has a shift selectable Supreme SS receiver

RE: POSITIVE/NEGATIVE SHIFT TRANSMITTERS
I'm not familiar with either the 9C or the Royal, however, some transmitters (Such as the Hitec Eclipse 7 or Airtronics RD6000/8000) are shift selectable.

RE: POSITIVE/NEGATIVE SHIFT TRANSMITTERS
Dual conversion is a receiver that uses 2 RF stages to lock on the FM signal. It allows a tighter lock on a frequency and rejects interferance better.
For outside flying at distances we play with, dual conversion is the way to go. Single conversion is usually used for indoor electric flight.
Negitive/positive shift has to do with the actual signal sent from transmitter to receiver. The Waverform sent from TX to RX encodes the
position of each transmitter channel. Positive/negitive shift has to do with the shaping of the information on the radio signal.
You need a receiver that expects the same signal, or a shift selectable receiver such as the Hitec SS Supreme or Polk.
Sorry to any serious electronics types out there for murdering teh shift explaination, but that is the simple way to look at it.
