Default New to Helis, need some advice!

Hello everyone!I have 20 years of fixed wing flying, but I just bought a new Caliber 30.Would someone help me out with a few questions?
1:Which way does the tail rotor turn?No arrows in directions.
2:I don't have radio gear yet,and I have about $350.00 to spend.I am considering a Futaba 6EXH,which comes with 3151 servos.I find the Futaba 240 gyro is not friendly to these servos, but the 401 is.Do I really need a hi-speed servo to learn on?
3:I was considering a FMA co-pilot,to.Does this do away with the gyro?Where do you mount it on a Heli?
4:This bird has a rotor that can use EMS or MMS.Which is best?It says something about a a beginner set up for the rotor, but instructions are not much help.
All suggestions welcomed!I don't have any radio gear yet,so please help. Thanks!

First off WhtBronco is in your area I'm pretty sure and probably would be glad to help you out.

Looking at the right side of the heli the tail turns counter clockwise, rememeber you always want the forward blade heading up and into the rotorwash it makes the tail more efficenent.

The 401 gyro isn't that much more and for 185 or so you can get it in a combo with a 9254 and you won't have to worry about your tail again. The 3151 isn't much for a tail servo.

The EMS is probably a better choice especially if you are going with 3151 servos but it will require a radio capable of CCPM. The 9c is the best bet with a 7C being close behind.

Is there a good reference to Compare the Futaba 9C with the JR XP9303?

I'm getting a dealer suggesting the latter, and I'd like to know if its based on price, functions, or his margins.

Thanks in advance.

They are both good radios and will do what you want them to, infact there's probably functions in both you will never use. I don't like the way the JR feels in my hands compared to the 9C so he may just be reccomending what he likes. If you don't have a lot invested in one type of reciever or the other get whatever you feel most comfortable with.

Thanks for the replies!
So,does Futaba 6 channel support 120 degrees needed for EMS operation?
Will a 7 channel support trimming the 401 gyro from the transmitter?
I have no plans of test flying my new bird, and I hope to hear from Bronco.
In regard to tail rotation,I notice the blades installed both directions,on the box,and in the directions!
Anyway,at this point I just want a stable bird to learn on.
Thanks again.

Is this feature of the RCUniverse Website helpful or is it lacking in some way that newbies should know about?

It is designed to let you compare any product side by side.

The tail should turn counter clockwise when viewed from the right side, remember the blade going forward should always move up and into the main rotors down wash.

Yes a 7C will work fabulously with a GY401

Oh man, don't even remind me about the wife's point of view over a $500 radio.

My math is simple, take whatever I intend to spend and double it because whatever spend on helis I'll find the equivelent in new furniture or other gardening or housewares when I walk in at some point usually about 3 to 4 days after whatever I ordered gets deliverd. So if I want to spend 500 on a heli I have to budget 1000 bucks. Even if I sell another heli to pay for it.

Exactly my issue.
My wife wants matching funds for all heli purchases.
Which reminds me, the Lowes guy should be delivering the new stainless french door refrigerator soon
