looks like a fixed pitch vintage heli...

there's rust all over it and it doesnt look complete

the 3 servos are for the cyclic controls (probably some form of ccpm)

Ok this looks like a helibaby I had about 15 yrs ago looks like 2 servos would mount somewhere upfront for cyclic (a fixed pitch heli uses 2 servos for cyclic) the third would be for the tail control. Hope this helps looks like a good project

I'll take a wild guess and say it's a Shluter Heliboy. The engine is a Thunder Tiger, you can see the case markings.
Go post this in the Vintage section at Run Ryder - someone will get it in a flash.

would you remember how the servos mounted, horzontal, or vertical? mounted to the single plate, or was there some thing else?

thanks againe!

I forgot to ask, what channels would be setup, ie ch 1 fuel, ch 2 tail ch3 ?? ch4 ?? Now, I may have this wrong, but I am wondering...

I would say mount the servos vertical with plastic or aluminum mounts (like the type for a rc car steering servo) you may have to bend your pushrods a bit but I think that should work.

How do you setup a 4ch on a chopper? I know one is throttle, but the other three???
You have a Sport 500, which was distributed by Hobby Lobby.

I've had good but mostly bad experiences flying and trying to fly both the fixed and collective pitch versions.
There are just too many flaws (of which I won't bother going into) in the design of the Sport 500 to even bother with, of what I loosely call an RC helicopter.

I would be more than happy to give you some sticktime on my Raptor 30 but unfortunately you are a good 4 hour drive from where I live in Lockport, NY.

Over the years, I've trained literally hundreds of people to hover and fly RC helis and for the most part, they've learned to hold a sustained hover within an hour or two of training.

Take care,
CCR

I thought the Sport 500 only had the front half of the fuselage?

Hobby Lobby sold the fuselage version of the Sport 500 and/or the fuselage alone to attach to either version of the Sport 500.

Then again, several manufacturers made similar versions of this design, but I think I remember seeing Hobby Lobby advertising that fuselage.

Heres some build Pictures, for any one intrusted... I ended up borrowing a dremmel, and cutting holes for the servos to mount, curently my MFA Sport 500 is ready for test flight, and tuning, less some thing called a gyro, as I under stand, gyro's where not around when this bird was born... I think I need a "belt" to start the motor with my hobby lobby starter, not sure how to start it other wise... I also have some thing missing of the main blades, not sure wat thats called either - here's a pic...

Here is one more build picture! The camo job is what it is going to look like, only with a twist, it will be of tiger claws, all air brushed, primered, painted, and glossed... The picture is there only to show an ideal paint scheme of the completed chopper, which is still work in progress.... I did manage to guess how to hook up the receiver, and servos, only after a friend gave me a helicopter simulator that works off my Sony playstation 2...

I'm far from an expert, but couldn't help notice you don't seem too sure of how the controls of a helicopter work. You should definitely read as much as possible, and play with a proper R/C simulator. Especially if you plan to try to fly this thing without a gyro, which functions to keep the tail from spinning around wildly, by controlling the speed of the tail rotor.

And remember, those spinning rotors can chop off body parts

Some time I scare me, but I found out it is called a paddle, and it hooks to what is called a fly bar.... I'm learning... Just not as fast as I would like to...
