I have a Hawk Sport with an OS 32 in it. I just got it as a first heli, and I am concerned about how hot the engine is getting. It puts off alot of smoke, but when I try to richen it up, the tail wobbles. I am afraid to lean it to bring up the rotor speed because I am afraid of cooking the engine. How hot are these things supposed to get?

If you are using heli fuel they smoke alot.
The way to temp test the engine is to put your finger on the backplate, if its cold you can go leaner, if its warm but you can hold your finger there atleast 3 seconds its about right, if its too hot to hold your finger there its too lean.
Fly around then land quickly and check it right away, a bit of hovering and or a few laps around the field is good enough if you aren't into aerobatics yet.

The smoke test is a really bad way to judge mixture on helis. You can run them extremely lean and still smoke quite a bit. The best method is the finger on the backplate test like cuda recommends and with experience, the sound of the engine can tell a lot.
