beginner 2CH heli questions
Hi,
I'm really new to heli's and was looking into getting a cheap 40dollar 2CH heli. I was wondering, what can a 2CH helicopter do? Is it just forward/backwards, up/down? The one I was looking at had a blade on the tail and said something about 360 movement?
Thanks,
Drew

Head to Radio Shack and pick yourself up a Picoo Z for $30. It's fun for flying around the house but that's about it. Do a search on here for Picoo Z and you will find many topics and videos of them. They will move up, down, rotate left and right and have a constant forward motion.

If it is 2 channel, it is probably up/down and left/right. That is what the Picco Z does, and it is 2 channel. Stock, the Picco Z mostly hovers in place. You have to add weight to the nose to give it slow, forward flight.
Oh, and these things are fun! Figure 8's above the kitchen table (ok, most of the kitchen, but still)

RE: beginner 2CH heli questions
The 2Ch helicopter: 1CH for the main motor which for go up and down, 1CH for tail movement (spin left or right). That's all
If you really like a helicopter, go for the 4CH or up. [link=http://www.linknety.com/modevideos/demo/zoom.php?id=14]This is the very basic 4ch helicopter flying video[/link]. 1CH for up / down, 1CH for left/right, 1CH for forward / backward, and 1Ch for tail movement

RE: beginner 2CH heli questions
I notice that 2ch helis have the tail blade on its side.
But some 3ch helis I've seen have the tail blade on top (facing up). How can you yaw when It's like this?

So the throttle channel controlls the speed of both rotors.
The yaw channel makes one rotor go faster while the other goes slower.
The pitch channel makes the 'up facing' tail motor spin.

Well, the blade CX is slightly diferent. That is a 4 channel counter-rotating model. It has no tail rotor at all (ok not a functional tail rotor)
It uses differential rotor speed for yaw control, combined rotor speed for throttle, and then it has a swash for pitch and roll control.
