Default differences between first heli.

Gday guys and girls,
i'm new to this forum and RC Heli's. i was looking between these 4-CH for my first helis, i was wondering if anyone could tell me some pro's and con's of them
ive done some previous looking round, but i am keen to here peoples points of view on whether this is a good path to travel down.

i am mechanically minded, so i should be able to fix it after crashes, i was wondering which of the below would best suit a beginner.(2 are honeybee's)

so any info would be apprechiated
Thanks in advance from Australia

Hello arzzs,

Being a heli newbie myself I am probably a lousy source of advice but nevertheless: here it comes for what it might be worth.

Ditch all of these options and buy a Lite Machines Corona 120 kit plus a decent computerized multichannel radio like the Multiplex Cockpit SX (surprisingly cheap) or the Futaba equivalent. That radio will suit you when you wish to upgrade and will give you adjustment possibilities which you will soon miss in a cheap RTF set.

The Corona is a real kit so plan on using some 30 hours to assemble the thing. When you're through you will have a comprehensive understanding of the mechanical intricacies of your heli. This will be of great help to you when you start repair works - which is a big part of the life of a heli newbie.

The Corona is more crash-resilient than most beginner helis, it is a bit bigger than the real small ones which adds stability, you can get various canopies and upgrades for it and the rotor head (when properly assembled and balanced) displays great stability and a fair effectiveness while still being a simple fixed-pitch thing.

Good luck, I attach some pics of my own Corona,

The problem with 4 ch helis is they are fixed pitch helis so you are very limited to what you can do with them, it won't be very long before you out grow them, plus they are a little harder to get use to flying compared to collective pitch heli. Fixed pitch helis fly by how fast the rotor speed is, when the rotor speed slows down the heli becomes very unstable.
You should have a look at the Blade CP Pro or something like that, they are a little more money but they will take you a lot farther when it comes to flying skills.

One thing to remember is, when you buy those knock off helis, you get what you pay for, if you buy a cheap heli, chances are your getting a cheap heli and you end up having nothing but problems.

thanks for the quick reply guys

bling - i have looked into the corona, i dont have enough funds for it. this was the package i was looking at [link=http://www.helihobby.com/html/corona_heli_kits.html]LMH Corona Model 120 Complete Package[/link] at this stage its way out of my league.

Charlie - i thought i would have been better to stick away from CP for my first heli, bit i understand what you are saying. if i can find a package for a reasonable price i would be interested in getting it. i am open to advice

i found this document and it helpful.

thanks for the info guys.[link=http://www.swashplate.co.uk/ehbg-v17/ehbg_index.html]forgot to add this[/link]

the esky honeybee 4 is a good starter heli. I have one, and it is surviving the learning curve quite well.
