Default Suggested Helis

Hi there

I am brand new to this sport (helis) after become bored of cars

My spending budget is around $1000 CDN or $890 US

Which would you recommend (non electric)?
I would rather start of with a nice heli so there is no need of upgrading

Thanks

A Raptor 50. Brand new they cost way up there, but you can get good ones off of ebay way cheaper (like 600 bux US).

Here are some reasons....

-Great performance

-Parts are dirt cheap, like 50 bux for a crash kit, and they have awesome support and aftermarket support

-Stable for a beginner, and when your ready, 3-D capable

-Easy to fix

-Lots of people have them, so you can get lots of help for it on the forums

-Looks awesome

-Durable

These are just a few things good about it, there are tons more to list. The only bad thing about it is.... Its way to fun and addicting!!

(One more thing. Before you start a new thread, please look around for a similiar one and use that one. A thread like this is started like 5 times a day.)

Happy to help, and Good Luck!!

My 8 year old can fly them just fine on the sim.

SST Eagle is a lot bigger than you have the money for.

I'd go with a Raptor 50 titan.

We train an average of 1 new pilot a month at our field from late teens on up. If you are willing to learn how things work, spend some time on the sim and burn some fuel every chance you get you will succede.

The Hirobos and Vibe will be waaayyyy outta your $ limit.

Any of the 50's, theyre all great!

During flight you only have to use four "motions", and then a little switch on the top- Idle Up is only used for aerobatic flight and you only touch in twice during flight.

There are all sorts of places on the internet that you can get Rappies (they are the most popular fuel-powered heli). If you want to stay in your price range, you are pretty much limited to www.ebay.com for used ones.B the time you have everything set up with it if you got all new, you would probably be around the 1500$ US mark.

Not only will you need the heli and all its electronics (radio, servos, rx, gyro, ect.). You will also need starting equipment (field box, hand starter heli extension shaft, glow driver, 12v batt, 15-30% nitro, ect.)

So if you decide to go all new, www.helihobby.com is your place (they have it designed so that you can build you own Raptor combo package).

Good Luck Man, and Happy Flyin
Alex

Edit reason: wanted to add more to what I wanted to say

Flying helis at first is going to be very overwhelming and difficult, but after a while, itll become second nature to ya.

Best place for Raptors is http://www.heliproz.com everyone that picks up the phone there flys and they will work with you to find a model that fits your expectations and budget. Also http://www.onlyraptors.com and http://www.ronlund.com all of those three have good deals and excellent customer service which as we know can be more valuable than saving 10 bucks.

I'd look them up by doing a search in the forums and possibly the BBB before you do any business with ANY online retailer.

That club (i belong to two) is mostly airplanes. A mix of everything from trainers to giant scale aerobatics. Lots of racing, a few combat guys and just a few chopper pilots.
The other club I belong to has about 80 members and about 15 regular heli pilots. It also has two runways where the heli's get thier own flightline, helps keep friction between us and the plankers to a minimum.
Here's that place when everyone showed up.
http://www.un-reel.com/heli/ click on the HeliFun_Ver1 video thats just a day when everyone happened to be there.
