Default Sim problem

I installed the FMS software that came with my Falcon helicopter, but it only works with the keyboard. I also installed SmartProPlus. It's supposed to make the transmitter interface work. The main problem is that the calibration feature won't work no matter what I try. Win 2000's sound recorder says I have a signal going to the PC, but nothing happens when I attempt to calibrate the system in FMS. The bars stay still regardless of where I move the control sticks. I renumbered the boxes as suggested in other posts. Another problem is that with SmartPro installed it takes several minutes to load FMS and the SPP calibration console won't appear as it is supposed to. Their website doesn't address that particular problem. I verified that all the files are in the correct folders. If I remove SPP from the FMS directory, FMS starts immediately when I double click on the icon, but still won't work with the transmitter. So far I haven't found any configuration that will recognize the ESky transmitter supplied with the Falcon. My cable is the JR type that came with the Falcon. I don't have a separate graphics card, but I had hoped that FMS would work with the transmitter since it works with the keyboard. It's not very controllable with this method, but the helo or airplane selected will react to input.

Any suggestions to get FMS working properly would be appreciated. I'm new to RC and had hoped to use the sim before trying to fly the Falcon. My PC is a 1.8ghz Celeron with 750mb of Ram using Win2000 Pro.

Thank You for your time

Enzo

place the smartpropoplus right into the fms folder. This will start it as you open fms. Thats what i did and it worked like a charm. Hope this helps.

I had SPP in the same folder and I get the small icon at the bottom of my screen when FMS finally loads, but the SPP calibration screens won't show up even if I click on the icon. SPP seems to affect FMS somehow. When SPP is is the same folder it takes at least 3 - 4 minutes, sometimes longer to get FMS to load. Without SPP in the FMS folder, FMS loads in a few seconds. Unfortunately, neither of those problems is addressed on the SPP site. I wouldn't mind the slow load if FMS worked with my Tx as SPP says it will. I may try to get a JR to USB cable and see if that helps.

I know FMS is a simple sim, but so far it seems that it isn't very useful. I can hover the Falcon on FMS using the keyboard. A friend of mine has Reflex and it's not easy to hover like FMS. He selected a helicopter similar to my Falcon for me to try. I'm sure it's a sophistication issue. After all, FMS is free and Reflex is about $200.

Thanks for your input
