Hey guys I am 14 and new to heli flying though I getting ready to start competing with rc planes.I have a Real Flight G2 and I can fly pretty well 3D which of course this means I can do all the basic things also. I was wondering If you guys thought this means I am ready to start learning how to fly. I also want 3d heli but I cant spend $3000.00. What do you think the best heli for me is? I was thinking about getting a Eco 16 electric heli with ALOT of upgrades to start flying so that would give me the opportunity to fly in a smaller space. And then after that I can get something like a Fury 60. What do you all have to say about all that? Thanks alot!

First things first....locate a or find a experienced pilot near you and ask for help and see what they are used to so they can help you set it up.

TRUST ME you need a lot of sim time.

Looks like you're definitely ready to start learning how to fly heli's, it may be a little easier for you to pick up since you're pretty efficient with planes. But the heli's are really tough and the sim will really help you out but it's gonna be different with the real thing. I myself can easily do some pretty amazing ( to me anyway, haha) 3D moves on the G2 amont other things, but I'm just learning forward flight and basic maneuvering with my Corona. I gotta admit though the sim really really helped so it will definitely cut your real learning time down.

There's a bunch of really knowledgeable people that can tell you from experience but here's what I've heard about the Eco 8 because I was doing research on them before and almost got one. I've heard that it can be a great flyer with the right upgrades but I heard it's very fragile so I'm not so sure it would be a good first heli because durability will help keep your out of pocket expenses lower when you're first learning heli's.

My Corona was just an awesome choice for me and really helped my learning process and is very durable, I've actually only had to spend like $5 for repairs since I got it and that's with about 4 minor crashes and one from better than 12 feet. The Corona may not be what you want being that you're a soon to be 3D plane competitor and you'll probably pick up the heli quicker than usual. But you'd be surprised how many very experience heli flyers still hold on to their Corona because of how fun and durable it is.

From what I've heard if you want to start with a CP heli is that a JR Voyager E would be a better choice because it is a little more durable than the Eco 8 and is a really good flyer out of the box, that way you don't have to spend lots of $ on mods especially when you're just learning the heli.

Oh well, I hope I could help in your decision, again, I never personally flown the eco 8 or Voyager but just passing on info that I've got from experience piots when I was making my decision.

I love my Corona and glad I got it! I don't see myself getting rid of it even when I do get a CP heli in the future, it's just too fun and it is a little smaller so you can get away with playing with it in the garage or even living room, though not recommended, LOL. the itch is just really bad for me!

sim time is not real time eventhough it will help but its different. i can hover inverted flips loops tick-toc working on funnel but i wont even try it on the real thing iTs different just because u can do 3d in sim doesn't mean u can do 3d in real life but keep at it and get a real one and start off SLOW there is no need to rush hover til u are comfortable i learned my lesson i thought i can do figure 8 on my first gallon but what happened ? that heli is gone.
so get a 30 size, hawk sport, raptor 30 v2, or venture and get starting hover with training gear first til u are 100% sure that u wont crash without training gear then take it off and start basic hovers and forward flight

Default Quick Pro Carbon Fiber

Hey guys thanks alot! I answerd alot of my questions today considering a guy out at my field very kind (alot more kind than I would have been) and let me lift his Voyeger of the ground about a ft. and I was able to move it in all direction without any trouble!! Everybody said I am ready to get a heli and start learning. they said I should get a heli that was stable enough to learn on but my goal is to one day fly in competitions so they said I should get something that could fly good 3D as well. I was looking at the quick 30 pro Carbon Fiber I've heard awesome things about it. One of the guys out at the field owns one and I love looking at it it's very AWESOME! the guys said that mite be the heli for me. What do you all think? Thanks.

Hey guys I am going to get a .30 Quik Pro EMS Carbon fiber. I was wondering if anyone had any experence with this heli? Which engine should I get if I want it to be the most 3D? Also I want the BEST engine it's a 30 size but I have heard of people who want to make it 3D putting a OS 46 FX-H. What is the BEST engine? Thanks guys. L8R

That quick will cost you as much as a good 60 sized heli. Start out with something like a raptor v2, ergo 30, venture 30, ect. You can only do so much with a 30 sized heli even if it is carbon fiber. All carbon fiber does is make the heli lighter so think about that. I would say go with a raptor v2, gy401 w/ 9253 servo, maybe a JR 8103 radio or a 9c (preferred). It seems like you have a lot of money for a 14 year old with rich parents that will buy you anything you want so if you really want the quick 30 get it by all means.

Default I still want the quik pro

Hey thanks for the info. I am not rich. It's just that I've saved my money for a Carden 35% Edge 540 for the last 4 years and they ended up sponsoring me with one so as you can see I have some many to get a nice heli. I really want a .30 size because I would like something smaller than a 60 size and this seems to be the best strait out of the box(after you build it of course).30 size. And I think I already have a radio and servos well that is if a Jr x10 aircraft radio will work on a heli too.Do you know if it will? And I have the digital servos it came with. But does anyone know what size engine would make that the most 3D? Thanks guys.

well first of all I don't want a 60 size so I don't have to worry about having the mony to upgrade to a 60 when I want because I don't want to do that for a LONG time if at all.And I have plentty of mony for replacement parts.I know I will crash so I am going to put a metal frame on it until I get good. I really like the quality of Quick helis and I know people that own them and love them.I also have flown one well if you call lifting it 1ft off the ground and movuing it in a square formation flying one lol. It has to be the best looking heli strait out of the box I've ever seen. And also I have some very experenced heli builders that are going to help me . Don't think I am not open to other sugestions but I REALLY love this heli. Thanks. Happy flying
