Default Dummy 7202 question

Now don't all get mad at me but I got a real dummy question.

I just got a JR XP7202 tx unit. just the TX.

It says I can use it with all older FM RX units.

So now I have it setup on ppm and I get the servos to glitch a little but thats it. Now I did the "synthesize" channel bit and tried it on two diff rx units. One Futaba and the other HItec.

Two diff channels but both really are FM.

Now I can't find anything in the manual that says " in order to work with older (not that old) FM RX units you must blah blah blah"

Both of the RX units are Duel conversion .

What the heck am I missing?

I got this so I could free up my Hitec Elcipce 7 for my helis and use the JR for foamies. The 20 model memory is the part that I need.

Oh and yes, both RX units work with other TX units. Both use crystals. while the JR uses a synthesized module.

I am going to order some other stuff tonight from tower but wanted to get this squared away first.
Any help will be greatly apprecieated.

JR transmitters wont work with Futaba recievers.

For Hitec recievers it must be positive shift or labeled for JR/Airtronics use OR be a shift selectable reciever set to positive shift.

ahhhhh

Like I said "Dummy question"

For whatever reason I did not realize that JR was Posi only. hmmmmmmmmmmm oh well.

Everything I have bought over the last 7 years have been Neg shift. No wonder it won't work with all my crap. hmm

Ok,
Thanks a big bunch. I will have to get a couple of posi shift RX units.

anyone need any neg shift units? TOo many TX & RX units kicking around now. I thought that this JR "thynsezised unit would be the answer to all my problems as far as too much older stuff kicking around.
Really? JR is posi huh? dam.

My Hitec 7 is Neg....boy what a dummy purchase I just made. lol

The biggest part of the XP7202 that I liked was the 20 mod mem. That was the deal breaker.

Now I got several neg shift foamies that I thought my 7202 was gonna fly............as usual this is gonna be expensive. lol ...usually is.

Thanks again for the info.

See. part of my problem is I see this below on an auction..........and it says the below.

"
UP FOR AUCTION IS A BRAND NEW JR RS600 6 CHANNEL UNIVERSAL 72MHZ RC AIRPLANE RECEIVER. IT WORKS GREAT WITH FUTABA, JR, AIRTRONICS, AND HITEC. "

So I figure ...hell, I got a nice Hitec Elcipse 7 so it will work with that.
Of course I now also know that Airtronics (the older ones) will not work with my hitec stuff cause the polarity is reversed.

Then I go for it or (my wonderful wife wins it on ebay for me) and then IT HAD BETTER WORK!!!! lol

So.................there I am trying to get it to work without asking my BETTER half to buy more stuff for me to get it to work.

lol

such is life huh?

I even have some of the old futuba "G" connectors or at least I think thats what they were called then. THey have the prongs sticking out of the servo plugs.

too much ebay I guess.

Well, its off to the Posi shift stuff for me.

Thanks all again.

Does anyone know the deal with positive and negative shift?

Is it just another conspiracy to make us spend money or is there a real reason or advantage to one over the other?

I should be ok with buying a RX that says "AutoSHift" correct? Hitec makes one I saw.
That way I could use it with both TX units.

Looks like I found my answers in another thread. Yes, the AutoShift RX units will work!

Thanks to all
