The best one to learn on is not necessarily the easiest one to fly. In my opinion it's any one that's cheap and disposable. Try the Esky Honeybee fixed pitch. It's under $100.00. Parts are cheap for it and it'll take a pretty good beating.

Budget?

Electric or nitro power?

Where will you be flying? RC club field? Indoors? Back Yard?

What previous RC experience or equipment do you have?

I don't want to invest too much money until I find out IF I can learn to fly one. I don't want to invest more than 2 or 3 hundred in some thing to train on. I fly R C planes (nitro) have several 46 to 60 size motors JR recievers and JR 8103 transmitter. But think I should get a RTF heli to learn on. I will fly inside this winter and in the back yard and club field when weather permits. Thanks for all the help and advice.

There are not that many heli's that will fly both indoors (in a house) and outdoors well. If it's small enough to fly inside, like a co-axial, then it's not going to be strong enough to fly in the wind outside.

So, if you're looking for something to fly in the house over the winter then look at a co-axial, even though they are pretty limited and you'll probably grow bored of it. If you have a large basment or garage you can practice hovering in (and do radds) then go for a 300 size fp, if you want something that you can fly outdoors in the wind then you'll be looking for a 450 size electric. let us know which you want (can't really have it all).

alot of people favor the cx-2 but thats going ot be around 230 with spare parts.

check into the CX i tink itle be around 180 spare parts.

You cant fly it outside, but if you take your time i think you can upgrade sooner than you think because its a co-axial.

E-sky makes them, and they are very great heli infact imo better then the eflight cx2 cuz there about the same but the lama is half the price.. only thing about esky is there not many distributors here in the US. but i got mine at www.rc711.com . but you can get one really cheap on ebay brand new... ask around the lama v4 has a really good rep.

Contact Mike at KA=PLANES.COM and ask for a deal on a Falcon 3D and CPD4 CoPilot Combo. The price has gone down on the standard Falcon due to new Falcon models which have come out. I think you could get this combo for under 300 dollars. I have 2 of them and one crash in 100 flights between them. My experience is planes like you and large open class sailplanes. I have had good luck with this combo. The CPD4 CoPilot really is the key and it will save your ass from crashing and you will have some fun flying and learning. As you learn, you can turn down the sensitivity of the CPD4 until you dont need it OR as I do leave it ON for some added insurance if you become disoriented. I started with the Blade CX coaxial. From experience flying my falcons you dont need a coaxial as the CPD4 will make the falcon fly alot like a coaxial. Check you tube for some of my videos when I first started using the CPD4. Do a search on Falcon 3D and CPD4 and they should come up. You can see how very stable and easy it is to fly. Just my opinion. Get several before you buy anything. Mike is a good guy at KA-PLANES.COM He test flies each heli before it goes out the door. Trust him that he can and will help you and back anything he sells.
