Default Heli for a newbie

Hi all. I am interested in flying rc helis. I have some experience in flying planes but I want to start flying helis. I have read alot about the Nexus .30 Most people say that the Nexus is a very cheap heli and is'nt worth its price. I have also been looking at the Hawk Sport .30 heli. It's a bit cheaper then the Nexus and people say it is better. I am interested in a heli that is slow and easy to control. Just up down left and right. Sure 3D is fine but I want somthing that is a .30 so that I can take off in my garage or from my driveway. I already have a radio- A JR 347. I really don't want to spend 400$ on a heli. Reasonable price for me is 300$ for heli and engine. If you have any helis in mind tell me.

Thanks,
Mike.

How about the Hirobo Shuttle Plus around $200 and an OS .32 heli engine around $119. Easy to assemble and they fly really well.

I'm not sure if taking off from your garage is such a good idea no matter how good you are!

I am new also - I bought the Hawk sport, I think it's the best value beginner heli out there, plus the parts are cheap. I don't have a heli shop in my area so its mail order for me and the Century guys have been great! If you have a heli shop then I would go with what they sell, you really can't go wrong on any of the .30 beginner heli's out there and waiting for repair parts sucks!! Go with what you can get parts for.

You're correct. The Nexus is more expensive and not built as well as the Hawk Sport. For an entry-level heli the Hawk Sport has the best bang for the buck bar none.

The Nexus should really be priced around $130. In the grand scheme of things that's about what's it worth.

Aside from Nexus, just about any other .30 sized helicopter is also a great choice. It's just that the Hawk Sport is the least expensive and still retains quality.
