Hi everyone!!!

Been interested in owning a professional heli for a long time. Thing is their isn't a hobby store near me or any place to buy a heli, except the mall kiosk or Toys r us. Are their any online shops that someone could recommend?

I was hoping for a heli at least 2 feet long, that can do tricks and support a camera. I was also hoping to use the heli indoors and would like an electric one.

My price rang is below 200.

What type of heli should I be looking for?

Below two hundred??? able to support the additional weight of a camera??? SpyCam or something bigger??? Indoor flight????

The forum could help you better if we knew your flying skills, what type of indoor flying are you talking about...??? (Flying any but the smallest coaxial helis indoors and around people can get very dangerous very quickly...)

There are MANY birds under the 200 range, but your skills and intended use of the heli will have ALOT to do with what gets recomended....


I suggest you browse through some of the threads... kinda get an idea about what people are saying about their own experiences with different types of Helicopters...

First of all these arent professional helicopters these are only model rc helicopters. Secondly if I were you id buy a sim or a coaxial to start then after you master that you can move up to a collective pitch model to practice flying one and once you master that if you want somthing longer than 2 feet you could go for a 500 size electric for below 200 go on Ebay. If you just buy a huge powerful rc heli and try to fly it with no experience you will be out of this hobby way before you know it.

i'll only use it indoors once I get a hang of it during use in the park. ...probably not a good idea.

Are their any online stores someone recommends? I would like to get something along the price range and work upward.

I dunno of a reputable shop to buy one online.

The only experience was when I was a kid and a family friend that was in to Helis let me fly it around a couple of times. But that was years ago.

get something like a colco lama or a esky lama, even a walkera 5#5 all in the $100-120 range, these MIGHT be able to hold a TINY camera. (id'e pick the colco have done days of research for many many choppers and this strikes me as best)

co axials are very easy to fly, IF you are gentle and go slow.

do not get something single bladed or too big, single rotor choppers are very hard to fly and are never recommended to a noobie like yourself.


you will crash and you will break parts, if you dont like repair and learning curves, dont buy one. once you learn to fly even a co-axial its the greatest feeling off bliss and is very addicting.

as for a store helicopter heaven (cheap, nice, hand tunes your chopper) or ushobbysupply (nice, very knowledgeable, great to deal with) avoid bannana hobby at all costs!!!!!!!!!!!

One great store here in the state to check out would be ka-planes.com they are in Florida and have great helis and great service. As far as recomendations on helis under 200 and 2 feet long? that's a tough one. You are talking a cp heli which if you have never flown before they are difficult... It can be learned, but like most on this forum we started out with the coaxial style like the cx2 or lama v4.. they teach you the basic skill for the radio and reaction of the heli. but don't be fooled cp helis are alot harder.. I will reccomend that if you do get a cp DO NOT get the style with a tail motor.. (eflite cp pro)belt drive or shaft drive is the only way to go. also as a beginer get one with a head lock gyro. I personally got the black hawk 450se from ka-planes.com great heli I bought the RTF version which comes with everything preset and ready to fly.. take it out of the box charge the battery and fly.. Like I have said to others getting into this get a flight simulator and practice alot.. that will cut down on repair cost which are exspensive.

I did the sim skipped the coaxial, got a HoneyBee FP from Mike at Ka-Planes, (he's got an actual store to so you can call with any questions you have), and omg I hate tail motors already, but man flying is so much fun.

Question:
I found a Falcon 3d for less on enjoyhobbies.com for 159 instead of 229. I was wondering are they the same item? List price are different and I don't understand their wording of Carton Packaging, are they saying it's an OEM item or something?

I'll probably go with the lama but I saw video of the other two heli and they look amazing, also someone was able to install a cam on the falcon.

refrain from Cp's or single rotors. even if they ar $20 you will quickly spend $150 + in parts.

im getting the colco lama V today, its coming with a 2.4Gh radio too

I had a bad experience with helicopterheaven.com I purchased an eflite blade cx3 from <span style="COLOR: black">helicopter</span> heaven and I received a helicopter that was used. The canopy had glue and scratches all over it; the top of the canopy was ripped, and the motor wouldn't work. I took it to a hobby shop about 40 miles one way from my home; the guys at the hobby shop were able to get it to start but when they did they said the 3 in one gyro was damaged and the inner shaft was bent. I phoned the company and told Steve the unit was used but he denied it. He said he damaged the canopy while installing lights. He new the helicopter was damaged but he sold it to me anyway. The light job was shabby; there was glue from a hot glue gun all over the canopy and any where a light was installed glue bulged out around it. It looked like a kid had attempted to install the lights. The instruction manual also had writing inside of it as if a kid had drawn lines inside of the book.

If he test the units I wonder why I stayed on the phone with him for about an hour attempting to bind a supposedly RTF ready to fly helicopter to a transmitter that wouldn't bind. He couldn't walk me through the process to get the helicopter to successfully operate.
