Default New to Heli's "Please Help"

Ive been in r/c for along time, pretty much the majority of my life but that was onland r/c such as 1/10, 1/8 racing truggys, buggys, monster trucks etc... I picked up myself a new JR XP6102 Transmitter with 4 new receivers. My question is what beginer heli would you reccomend that doesnt have counter rotating blades? I was looking at the Axe CP, Rotofly EX, Axe CPv3... Im looking to spend around $200 or less.

the king2 is a nice heli, have to upgrade the motor and esc to brushless pretty quickly but for the money one of the best 300 size electrics. not as durable as the hbfp though and a higher parts count.

if you wish to stay under 200, stay away from the king. For the tools, and spares and necessary repair and repair etc. You'll end up around 300 dollars if you go with the king. I jumped right to Belt-CP then stepped down to HBK2 and my total repair bill (yet) is 200 dollars. Don't make the same mistake.

I'd only buy heli's from [link=http://www.ka-planes.com/inc/sdetail/2577]Ka-Planes[/link], great people you can trust. But stay away from the King II, its exactly like homehunt says, after all is said and done the HBK II is the same price as the Belt CP, the heads are exactly the same except the HBK II head has alot of plastic, the Belt head has metal ball links and more bearings, but neither the King II or the Belt CP will take the abuse the HBFP will, and they're not very beginner friendly (the CP's)

I looked for a month before I bought a heli but finally got a HBFP. Just because of the durability. I found a few guys that fly around my area and went to talk to them. Some flew the HBK2 and a few had the blade CP and blade 400. BUT all of them said that the fixed pitch would be tons cheaper to repair. And they have heard that the heli it's self was more durable than the CP's that are out there. So that is how I ended up with a honey bee.

Plus I won one modded out and a ton of spare parts on ebay for what a new one cost. Direct drive tail with 3 spare motors and 4 sets of blades 2 new sets of lipos. So this should me a good start.. If not I am sending it to Nuttcaze to have him dial it in... LOL He talked me into it...

So I should just go straight for the honeybee original? Just to let you guys know I will be putting a nice and powerful brushless/lipo setup in the heli I get so i'll need to know if it'll handle the power.

fly it stock before buying anything yet, its pretty good stock, a LiPo will def give it more power, but you need to be able to fly it first

Ya I understand I'll have to learn to fly the stock setup well before I should upgrade but i plan to buy the lipo and brushless setup at the same time I buy the heli so that when I feel confortable on starting then Ill think about putting the lipo and brushless setup in.

HBFP has tail motor, and has fixed pitch mainrotor and its paddle is under its main blade. weaker main motor and usually shorter flight time. Usually uses plastic blades

HBK2 uses tail driven system with a belt, it is CP heli and its paddle is above its main blade and usually stronger main motor and longer flight time.

HBK2 has a lot more parts and harder to fix. a little bigger. uses woodie or carbon fiber or fiber glass.
HBFP is a lot more durable. Usually when HBFP crashes indoor it can be recoverd with little adjustments with hand. if HBK2 does that. You'll lose main rotor and couple parts in the head.

go on youtube and watch nuttcaze's vids he's got belt-cp hbk2 and a lot of hbfp vids up there. You can see that HBFP costing less than 10 bux for each moderate-big crash and HBK2 around 20 bucks from minor crash.

I'm not sure if i'm right but I think FP uses rotor speed to control its elevation but CP uses its pitch and rotor speed to control its elevation.

If you really do want that kind of BL set-up and HBK2. Prepare around 300~400 dollars Jumping in is a big mistake that I made.

You'll need to spend around 30 in the head parts then another 30~50 for 5 sets of woodies and then 20 for other parts that will go from crashing. BL setup will take about 50 without including the new batteries. HBK2 rtf is around 120. You'll probably have to add shipping in all those.

If you really want BL setup and less than 200. I suggest you to start looking into HBCP. I don't know why but not a lot of people talk about that heli in this forum. I did look on youtube video a HBCP having BL setup for both main and tail motor.

That king2 is high modified though. CNC head ($80), brushless esky motor ($40), can't tell the esc but probably another $40, carbon fiber tail $15, Align skids ($10) although they are on backwards, xtreme head button, xtreme titanium turnbuckles, new cyclic servos (can't tell but looks like bluebird) and looks like an upgraded gyro and tail servo. if you start with a stock esky king2 and add up all the upgrades that one probably cost close to $400-$500.

you may get a good luck. A guy on esky forum sold his BL upgraded used HBK2 with a lot of mods for 140 bucks. It got me jealous lol.... Take your time. I'm not sure about your weather but I am not risking another cent out there in snow. You'll plenty of time

what's $50 more? compared to what? If you're ready to spend $500 there are much better options than the king2.

No no no... I saw the king 2 here for only $150- http://www.hobby-lobby.com/honeybeeking2.htm

Im wondering why should I get the original honeybee for $100 when I can get the king 2 for $50 which has alot more upgrades.
