Don't want to beat a dead horse.....but I am transitioning to a T-Rex 600 nitro. I accidentally did my first auto-rotation the other day from about five feet. I instinctavely brought my thottle back as I lost the engine. I then could hear the rotor speed up. As it desended
I instinctavely again brought the throttle stick up as it got closer to the ground. Then to my surprise, It hovered there for a second and then settled to the ground. Now three days later, I thought I had put a fresh battery in my blade 400. I was up higher then I had ever flown and started losing power after about four minutes. It was at 60-70 feet when it went dead. This time, I had time to think about what I was doing. BOY...did it drop as I feathered the throttle stick. Anyway I did slow it down before it made ground contact.
No damage!!!!!! So am I doing this right??? Is this something you guys practice regularly?? If so from what height? Is it better to be moving in forward flight when this is practiced? Any comments or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

A good way to set up to practice is to set the idle 1 position with a flat low idle curve til something above mid stick then steeply to full throttle. That way whenyou screw up just slam the stick full up to WO throttle instead fo fumbling for thr throttle hold switch. Start HIGH!
