Should one use an inline fuel filter or not?

The guys that helped me setting up the helicopter said I should get a good inline filter (and so does the manual to the helicopter says), but the people in the local shop says that I shouldn't, because there is pretty much resistant in a fuel filter.

So what do you guys say?

Everyone I've spoken to and everything I've read says use one. I have one on my Shuttle and don't see any reason not to.
