Default help with TX choice

I currently have an MCX and will be getting an MSR shortly. I want to upgrade my transmitter, and also want to buy a Phoenix simulator. I am considering a DX6i transmitter, and I know I can get the Phoenix sim with or without a DX5 transmitter.

So my question is, if I get the Phoenix sim with the DX5, will I be sorry I didn't get the DS6i?

As I'm sure you can tell, I've very new to this, but enjoying every flight!

if you ever wanted a larger heli the 5 wont cut it, you would need a 6 channel. i would go with the 6i if i could get the sim without the tx

Yes you will....plain and simple

If $$$ is not tight and you know you want to continue with heli's (electric) look for a Blade400 combo with the DX6i. I found mine used but still like new for well under 1/2 price.

I've actually been wondering, on a slightly unrelated note. Will my DX6i be able to handle a nitro heli? I read somewhere that you need another channel for the governor.

When I got my Sceadu, I went for the DX7 and I'm very happy with it. Got it for $200 on e-Bay without servos. Just the bare Tx. Does everything I need to do. Since I'm a beginner, things like governors will be far in my future, but if I'm not misteaken (pun intended), an additional channel is not required.

True, but who says you need a governor?

A minimum of 6 ch. is all you'll need for helis.
