Default Malfunctioning: Servo or Gyro?

Hi again guys! Im having some problems on my T500. There are random times that my servo isnt working whenever Im plugging my battery. But the Gyro's indicator light seems to be on the normal status. i.e., solid color, then blinks when I tap the tail. But on the other hand, if I unplugged the servo from the Gyro and connect it directly to the reciver, it works fine.

BTW, the gyro is already programmed to 1520, and default for the rest of the set-up. Do you think the Gyro is not sending enough power to the servo, or theres sumtin else goin on? -Thanks in advance!

Without playing with it, my off the cuff guess would be that the gyro is booting before your reciever links up.

Put the switches in the position you fly in (usually heading hold) and rebind.

See if it keeps doing it.

Do you mean the servo is not zipping back and forth when you power up, telling you, your good to go ?

Yes, it doesnt move like it normally does.

Basically no power to the servo, but the Gyro is ok based on the indicator led. (Solid color, then blinks when I tapped it)

I know it`s a long shot, but is there any chance you`ve unpluged the leads from the gyro to the receiver at some point and just put them back in the wrong way ?

As mentioned before, it can be quite tricky to answer without having it in front of you. It`ll be something simple i`m sure.

I checked all the connections, and everything is snugged. I also checked the polarity of the connectors, and everything is ok.

One inconvenient fix I found though, after plugging the battery on, I have to unplug the servo to the gyro and plug it back in again for it to work.  But that's a big hassle, and not necessary. It should work every-time I plug my battery right? Grrrrr

Thats a good idea, but I dont have an extra one,. On the other hand, I'll probably use the other servos (DS510) in he heli just to check if it will act the same.

I'll try this tonight when I get off from work.

I think sumtin is wrong with my gyro, I tried using a different servo (DS510) and it acts the same. Well, initially it worked fine, but after couple of times plugging and unplugging the battery, it stopped moving (working), I had to unplug the servo from the gyro for it to work again. Could this be enough reason for a warranty exchange?

Quite possibly, you`ll have to send it in to get checked out though.

If you`ve only had it for a few days andthe helihas never flown with it, the shop would probably just exchange it, or if you`ve been flying with it for say 6 months or so and it`s never been crashed i would think it would get replaced under warrenty.

eh, most of the hobby  shops here have strict electronics policy, no return/exchange when its used. I have to contact the manufacturer. I know, that sucks.

Anyhows, anyone have experience contacting align for a replacement (warranty)? Are they nice ;-)

PS: I have lots of experience on warranty return stuff on my computer parts, (i.e., motherboards, graphics card, etc) and never had problems, 99% smooth transactions. I hope Align customer service are as good as computer parts manifacturer when it comes on backing up their products.

I have the GY520 gyro on my 400. Are you sure that you hooked it all the connectors properly? It sounds like it was installed incorrectly. BTW, when you move it around after it is activated, it only moves a tiny bit. It is almost hard to tell swinging it back and forth. Also make sure with your transmitter turned on, make sure the light is solid red. I often have to disconnect the battery and reconnect because the gyro didn't initialize properly. A few other questions:

1. Did you perform the setup (1-6)?
2. When you performed your setup, which servo did you set it up as?
3. Are you suggesting that it doesn't look like it isn't working, or is it failing in flight?
4. Is your gyro switch in the gyro position on the transmitter?
