MSR Hovering Issues...
Hey all, I've been into rc for aboot 8 years but Just recently got into heli's (its "the thing" at my lhs so what the heck... :D ) but I have a slight issue;
My blade MSR is not hovering too well, when I get it into what should be a solid hover, it starts swirling around on me (not pirouetteing, the canopy keeps its orientation but the heli swoops around like its being flushed down the toilet) Now I have completely rebuilt the thing, main shaft isnt bent, swash seems to be fine, frame is ok.... I'm no heli expert so I'm at a loss here, any help guys? Cenzo |
RE: MSR Hovering Issues...
a bend in the flybar is the typical cause...

RE: MSR Hovering Issues...
I'd guess your blades aren't too tight or too loose. Checked for blade and flight-bar dissymmetry?

RE: MSR Hovering Issues...
Okay, it came with an extra flybar so ill replace it and let you guys know what happens

Okay update: I replace the flaybar and the issue got a little better but its still hovering in a circular motion... Could it be that the flybar is plastic and not balanceable, im really getting frustrated here[:@]

RE: MSR Hovering Issues...
I would say a feathering shaft or main shaft. Im not to familiar with that Heli tho. But if wither was bent it would cause that.

RE: MSR Hovering Issues...
One thing I found is that when Ifly the MSR in the living room which has alot of furniture all around I get the exact "wandering around" hovering that you describe. However when Ifly the MSR up in the loft which is quite open and spacious without furniture the hovering is perfect wth absolutely no "wandering". So I have concluded from this that due to the "wash" created around the MSR from its rotors, a significant amount of reflected "wash" can occur if the room you fly it in has lotsof furniture around the flying area. And this to me is the cause of the "wandering" despite the trimming I do as the MSR is reacting to its own "wash" being reflected back at it from different directions at the same time. </p> |

Make sure the pins that hold the main blades in place are not trying to come out. That happened to me once and it had a weird affect on the way it flew.

RE: MSR Hovering Issues...
Mine wanders around all the time at hover, actually more of a forward, backward (and repeat) motion. I have not tried the "large" area as mentioned, might be just the trick.

RE: MSR Hovering Issues...
I had a similar issue, I used that red plastic "tool" that came with the heli and it re-centered the swash plate and all seems to be good not. I dont know what the problem was perhaps the bearing came out of the swash plate.
its worth a try, good luck |
