Lightbulb Need Help Picking the Right RC Helicopter for Engineering Design Project

Hello,My team at Trinity College in Hartford, CT has to design a helicopter landing system over the course of our entire senior year. It is the biggest project of our lives and we need your help! The landing system will have pressure sensors that signal to a servo motor that raises or lowers one of the landing sleds, allowing the copter to land leveled on a non-flat surface. We are having trouble finding the right rc helicopter to fit our system to. Our budget is around $500. We are leaning towards a quad-rotor copter because it will be able to stay level by adjusting the speed of individual rotors. Because the helicopter is not the main focus of our project, it is important that we choose one that can do the following things:- Lock onto a location and allow us to adjust the altitude while the position remains fixed.
- Can still fly evenly and without error when weight is added or weight distribution is changed.
- Will automatically change rotor speeds to stay level when an external change is made (wind or weight change).
- Relatively easy to fly (even though we have all year to learn to fly it well, we have little rc helicopter flying experience).Does anyone here have any suggestions on what kind of helicopter to use for this project?
Thank you in advance for your help!
