tail: you will need (and is the proper way) to give some input to the tail while making a turn, especially if you have heading hold...
ail.: use ail. to make it lean nice in the curve
elv.: give some input as well, otherwise you might pick up pieces...
pitch: i increase pitch a touch to avoid losing speed and altitude
that of course varies depending on if you turn in the wind or not and how fast you are going...
hope that clears things up
on the other hand turn that thing around however you want to and you might call it a new move

Basically its a coordinated turn.
Add Aileron, little elevator, add rudder to complete the turn.
Too much elevator and the heli will stop.
Too much aileron and not enough elevator and the heli will slide sideways .. hopefully you have enough altitude...
Rudder helps finish off..
The more Aileron the more elevator to bring it around...
if you don't have a HH gyro the tail will follow throw depending on the sensitivity of the gyro you might need a little rudder..
Dunno what a "proper" turn is.. as long as it turns and stays in the air I would call it a "proper" turn..
