Good old Rays complete helicopter manual is a good place to start. Everything from the basics, to advanced theory on helicopter control systems. I still look back on mine every once and awhile.

Book for beginners.
I have Ray's (all versions including the last) and have recently picked up the one fropm Traplet (MHW) by Russ Deakin. The latest one from Ray is good, but I found Russ;s even better and more comprehensive re: aerobatic set-ups.

Re:
Please recommend a book for a beginner. I don't really need aerobatics, but a basic how to and why type of book.
How bout the "Kama Sutra"
Oops....... book for a "heli" beginner <G>

book for beginner
It seems I was not clear enough in my first post. BOTH Ray's and Russ's books are equally good for the beginner. It is just that Russ's book is more clear and concise in his text and also includes better info for later when one would want to progress further.
