32sx
I have a 32sx airplane engine.
is the difference between this engine and the heli version ONLY the head or is there and internal difference ?
Can I swap the head and use the engine for heli's?
On the Tower web site there is a parts page for the 32sx-h engine. on that page they show a ringed piston and a non-ringed piston available. so I am a comfused..

RE: 32sx
There's three differences between the OS 32SX, and the OS 32SX-H.
1. The "prop shaft" is shorter than the airplane version.
2. The carburator is optimized for running at mid-range.
3. The head is bigger for cooling.
There is an ABC version and a ringed version. IMHO, the ABC version will run better in a heli because of the higher heat.

There are two heli versions one with ring one without. I know carbs are different heli versus plank. You might compare part numbers on tower, only likely difference would be liner or crank. And them I'm guessing only port timing numbers are different. Swap heads, I don't think you'll notice much difference.

RE: 32sx
It depends on the heli you are installing it in. Some may work, some may need it to be shortened. It only takes a few minutes with a dremel to cut it if need be. If you decide to buy an engine versus change this one over,,, get the TT 39. It may not be as user friendly as the OS but the increase in power more than balances out for it's somewhat finicky nature. Plus the TT's are $20-$30 cheaper.
