Hey Lift, thanks for the pic, I think I may make it my Desktop. So how do you like it, I read in your previous posts you were going to convert it to a 50. Does it fly good? Thanks, Daz...

Daz,
BTW, those are the SAB 550mm CF blades for the Raptor. They are great! Get some at Ricks or Cyberheli.com.
HiVoltage,
I wonder how that could be?
I love the way it flies. Like a smooth refined Raptor. I think that it's stongpoint is the cyclic response. Very smooth yet aggressive. Just a tad underpowered with the OS .32 with ACE Upgrade muffler and 30 % CoolPower. I think with the Hirobo .36 or Webra it would be just fine.
I am wanting to do a 50 conversion because it is a sweet little machine and it would make an excellent 50 due to power/weight. The parts are as cheap as the Raptor but it is a tuffer design and should handle the power of a 50 better. Not to mention the size. The Venture really is a much more visible heli and definetly oversized for a 30. Plus, just a casual inspection reveals that the frame/cooling system is layed out for a 50 anyhow.
I have been wanting more power since I have started flipping and inverted hover. The Venture does all this very well and is VERY smooth for a 30. But, if you get in trouble it doesn't have the power to bail you out. At least mine doesn't.
Also, the first 10 flights seemed like a real sluggish bird. I kept thinking that "man, this thing is a brick." And this is why a few people have jumped into one but never really broke the bird in. My maingear used to rub on the frames. I carved a little material away and all is fine. Also, the gear mesh has to run in. So what I am saying is be patient. Mine is now a smooth machine. She just sits there and stares at you in a nose in hover. NICE!!
Also, to get descent climbouts with out loosing headspeed you will probably find that 10.5 to 11 degrees is needed. Don't ask me why but it does! Set your hold pitch to at least 13 degrees for that extra flair. Just seems like the Venture needs more pitch but it is available. I think mine mechanically has +14 on the top and -11 on bottom. Tons of range. Another reason why I think this is a 50 ship.
So, if you are getting started their is ALOT of growth potentential. You can rag the 30 out then do a 50 conversion and keep on going with the same heli. People used to advise a 60 everytime when you are ready to move up. But now with the popularity of 50s seems like you can go that route cheaper.

Lift, you say it may be a tad bit underpowered with the 32 should I get the Webra, I dont normally like Webra engines, but if it is more powerful and a smooth runner, I will use it. I also took note of the other mentioned ideas. Thanks, Daz...

Webra .35
Or check cyberheli for the Hirobo .36. I hear it is a good motor.
I have OS and YS engines currently. But I would not discourage you from the Webras and the like. I have used them in profile hoverbatic planes and tuned a few helis with them and they seem to be nice. Also, maybe the Irvine .36 has more bang.
Don't know, but the OS .32 is lacking in power on the Venture. Run's reliably EVERY time but just not as much punch. You will be fine with it for quite sometime. One day it will be something you can sell to a beginner and then get the OS .50!.
Don't worry about it much. If you have to have more power then just get the Webra and be careful the first two gallons.

OH,
Well, I finally got my Venture in the air last night and I was really impressed.
I took her up and hovered around for a bit to make sure nothing was going to fly off...then we took off and she is a nice flying bird. Hovers smooth and flies with authority. I think I am going to like this bird.!!!!!

Highvoltage, thats good to hear, what engine do you have, and how did you like the power. I think I'm going to stick with the OS32 for the reliability factor since I'm a newbie. Daz...

I would say , stick with OS . We are beginners and may not even recognize the extra power ! Not to mention, the headache of setting up the carb . BTW , once you (and me too .. lol) are comfortable and have gone thru process of learning , dump in an OS50 in it .

Daz,
When it comes time to change dont forget about YS engines. I love them, in fact I have several OS 61's that I will not even use since I started to use the YS engines. They are awesome.

I think a 50 is the largest I will ever go, so unless YS makes a 50 then I'll probably stick with OS. I'll probably end up doing what Lift said in his earlier post, and just upgrade my Venture to a 50 one day. Later, Daz...

Is there an upgrade kit to put an OS .50 in or is it as simple as removing the .30 and plugging in the .50 with the clutch put on?
I imagine a bigger clutch and clutch bell would be helpful(necessary?), but I am not clear on that.
What does the kit provide for a 3D setup? has anyone tried 3ding this guy?!
Thanks

Woodscra,
I think it is a similar to the Sceadu sitiuation. It is designed as a 50. So, greater size and more stable in the 30 state. But, witht the OS .32 SX-H it is slightly underpowered.
In tumbles you have to be conservative. Can't rip them tight and fast. Although, it is a very clean flying ship with alot of promise. Which is why I bought it to do a 50 conversion to it. I like it more than my Raptor. I have flown the Hawk IV and the Sceadu. It flies as clean as the Sceadu but with a little more power.
I have decided to stick with my 60 and sell the Venture off. Although, I really like this heli and recommend it to beginners. But if you want it to 3D with some reserve power then a 46/50 is recommended. Notice the "reserve" power keyword.
Don't know, maybe the Hirobo .36 on a pipe is the way to go.
Oh, yeah on the conversion I would expect Horizon to bring in the rest of the Venture line. (ie Venture 50,60,90) So, there will probably be a 50 conversion sometime in the future.
Until then you will have to follow the plans that ColeopTer at runryder did. Do a search over there. It is a fairly simple mod if you are creative.
