Please help me to understand what exactly CCPM is for. Is better for sport flying and 3D? What are advantages and disadvantages?? I am using Futaba 9 CAP; can I fly heli w/ CCPM??? I am asking all this because I want to get the JR VEnture 50 w/ OS 50 engine. Is it good heli to lern 3D or should I be looking for something else?Thank you in advance.

First off yes the 9cap will do CCPM. CCPM stands for collective cyclic pitch mix. In CCPM 3 servos work together to move the swash plate. Where a standard system 3 servos work independently to move the swash plate. In CCPM when you give collective input all 3 servos move together to increase and decrease collective pitch this gives you 3x the servo torque on moving the collective. When you give cyclic input 2 servos move together. I have flown both types and I definitely prefer the CCPM the controls are a lot smoother. the biggest advantage of CCPM is that you don't have to use as high of torque servo on the swash so it saves some money on servo cost and power consumption is less.

I just recently got a CCPM heli my self after years of flying mechanical mix and i must say the CCPM does seem smoother alot smoother when you have your pitch and throttle curves right to. Just use a swash leveling tool to make sure your swash is going up and down level from low to high stick on your throttle.
Don't know much about the Venture .50 but from i have read it sounds like a decent heli that will 3D and FAI maneuvers.
FAI is precision flying like exiting a maneuver in the same spot you entered it where 3D is basically controlled falling with random extreme maneuvers are done at the pilots wish. Not so much precision flying as FAI though you must precise at all times anyways
Check out the Hirobo Sceadu Evolution .50. Critics are comparing it's power to weight ratios of the .90 size helis. Sounds like it could be a heck of a 3D machine. Also a clip of it flying on the IRCHA 2003 video i believe.

There is more than one eCCPM. When the ad says CCPM it usually means 120deg CCPM which is three servos moving a swash plate with balls at 120deg. An equilateral triangle. The latest thing in CCPM is the 140deg design. It places all the ball joints an equal distance from the main shaft in in a fore-aft perspective. The proposed benefit of 140 is that for elevator changes the servo response speed is equal between the front servo and the the rear servos. It's something only FAI flyers would appreciate. Apparently, with 120 there is a slight change in collective when making a sharp change in elevator. 140 is only supported on high-end radios.
Also, according to my radio, there are 90deg and 180deg CCPM modes too. I don't know anything about those.

My buddy judt bought a 6102 for a Venture .50 which is ccpm as well as the venture .30 CP. It is a fairly new helicopter. That radio will be great for a venture ccpm heli. It even has graphs for pitch and throttle curves. Decent radio!

Great news. I wonder why Horizon sells the 6102 as an Air and Heli version? I have the Air version one and it's got Heli programming in it. I'm lucky that it works for the CCPM. I also have a JR10X but that's a dedicated Airplane radio. Thanks again, Mike
