Default Futaba GV-1 Governor Thoughts!!!

I'm thinking of purchasing one of these for my Freya 91, is it worth it or not? Thanks, Daz...

doesn't seem to work well with a pipe, but great with a muffler.

I'm using a Gov on a OS61 WC w/ CY muscle pipe and it runs perfect.

Paul,
probably depends on the engine and the pipe. i have one on an os 50 with a hatori pipe and i can't get as much top end performance with the gv-1 on as i can with it off. otherwise it's consistent during tight maneuvers, but so is it with throttle mixing and no gov. it works great on my pro 2 throughout the range with a ksj muffler.

with a 90 size engine it will for sure help you to control the excess power, without doing all those mixes etc...
i have governors in all of my machines and i love it (still have the throttle curves set pretty close as backup)
the time you spent tweaking all those curves you can spend practicing maneuvers...

So far sounds like a good thing, they have a good deal on them at Heli-hut for $130.00, I think I will go with it.

Furyflyer2, that is a awesome machine, it actually looks like it is on fire, great job. Daz...

Default GV1

I have one on my 91 Freya. I only have 2 flights with the GV1 activated, but I did find that it works very well. I was able to turn off all cyclic to throttle and TR to throttle mixes.

I use a 9Z and with a 13 point throttle / pitch curve, I do not need the GV1. I find that it does make life easier, especially in the experimentation phase of your setup.

The setup of the GV1 isn't difficult, but you will have to decide how you want it to be activated and how many switches you want to have to turn on/off.

I personally do not like to throw a lot of switches, so I have it turned on via the throttle stick in Normal mode. Idle 1/2 the GV1 is always on.

Ron Lund has a great little article about prober throttle setup dealing with proper linkages and atv settings. This would be important for both with the use of a governer and without one.

Just thought it might be revelant here.

I wish I could take credit for the pant job but that goes to Canopy FX.
