no seriously:
- convert it to an electric type
- put earpuffs in your ears
- talk real loud when you fly so you don't hear it wroaring
- don't turn it on
- crash it ASAP
- don't put the engine in
- put water in the engine
- ...

The TT muffler that you get with the kit is relatively quiet, about half the noise of most airplanes IMO. If you decide to make it even quieter there are a couple things you can do: 1) make an insert for the exhaust so you get a bit more back pressure. make an aluminum tube that is a press fit to the inside of the outlet and restricts the flow just a bit. This will hurt performance, but there is plenty of power to spare. I was messing around with one of the MP2 tuned pipes the other day, it is quite loud but really quiets down if you do that. Haven't flown it with the mod so i don't have any hard numbers.
the second thing you can do is make a second chamber for the exhaust that has baffles. similar to a gun silencer maybe? a little more work, but it might quiet it down with less effect on performance.

The zimmerman 50 size muffler is the quietest I have found. I have tried MP2, TT, Mavrikk, Hatori SAB-5RS, and Zimmerman. I like the Hatori the best but the Zimmerman is very quiet. Any other model starts up and you will have trouble hearing yours and the power is good.

I would not do anything. Adding stuff to the muffler will make you loose power.
TT did not design to loose power.
In my .02 it has great performance and sound.
Otherwise as stated get an electric.

The sound and smell is what this hobby is all about (and flying) you will grow to love it all. A couple of the guys at the club have quiet helis and dont like them as if anybody else is flying or tuning there helis they cant hear what their one is doing/reving etc or even worse the instant the get a flameout or engine problem.

If you really want to get scientifig about it, see Martin Hepperle's home page. He has a java application to design silencers. It really should be easy to quiet a heli, as the rev range is limited. If you use a governor it should even be possible to fine-tune the rpm to a very sharply tuned silencer.

How loud is the stock muffler for the Raptor 50 V2 with an OS-50 engine? Same as a 2-stroke weed-wacker? Need earplugs if you're about 20ft away? I've read that it's not quite as loud as most 2-stroke gas engines on lawn equipment...

Give it a try before buying new mufflers. I'm currently running a .91 with mavvrik muffler and its no louder (might be quieter) than my weedeater. Over a gallon used in my backyard and no neighbor complaint...yet
On very first start the idle was so quiet it was running before I knew it...the drill I used for a starter was louder than the engine idle! Also when you start forward flight and get a distance a way that first hint of engine failure (no sound) will be priceless in saving your aircraft.

Thanks, guys!
I've run a gallon through mine in my back yard already, running rich to break in the engine, and it is not as loud as any of my yard equipment (4-cycle mower or 2-cycle weed-trimmers, etc.). Had one of my neighbors come over already, because she was out in her yard, saw me hovering, and thought it was a cool "toy"! I have a good relationship with neighbors on all sides of me, and given the noise level of the TT50V2 stock muffler, I doubt anyone is going to get upset!
