I have a helicopter of my own and I need a flight simulator. I know that there are free ones on the internet so I want to get a free download of one. If you know of one please leave the web site.

A joystick or the keyboard will not teach you to fly RC helis. You will have to get an interface cord for your radio. If you buy a RC simulator the interface comes with it. There are some pretty good sim's on the market these day's and the graphics are a lot better then FMS. Here are some pictures of the Reflex sim.

Charlie,
I agree about the transmitter interface. it is a lot better than a joystick.
do you have Reflex? What do you think about it? i heard a little about it but not that much in a while.
where did you gt it. For how much $$$$
just wondering

wow, those graphics look awesome !!!
If you would have to campare it with G2, which one would be the better sim to learn on (the most realistic)

I just got G2 and like it a lot. The deciding factors for me were the graphics quality, and the fact that it comes with it's own controller. Tower had a $20 off promotion, so I got the full version (not Lite) for $179 + shipping, including the controller. I've heard Reflex has better simulation models, but with no controller, it's useless to me!
I don't get it... I'm a newbie to RC planes/helis, and I want to start with a simulator before I invest $$$ in a radio and a plane or heli kit. Why would I buy a simulator that would also require me to buy a radio right away to use it?? G2 comes with a USB controller that looks & feels like a Futaba radio (it's made by Futaba, in fact), so I can use it before I invest $$$ into a radio! And when I do finally get my radio, I can use it instead via the interface cable. To me, this is a big advantage to G2, no other simulator I've seen has this.
Just my $0.02...

I have both simulators. For years Realflight was running as leader of the pack and quite frankly is still top grade. However with Reflex XTR, Realflight finally has some tough competition. Reflex has picture perfect graphics and the flight model is the best I have flown for heli's and planes. Realflight does have a great flight model too, but in a few areas they fall short of Reflex. Also, Realflight is a bit more finicky to install.
The bottom line, I must say I love BOTH sims. Each has pros and cons and both are worthy of buying. Realflight has lot's of models to fly and it has a huge following(very helpful). Plus Realflight has superb product support. Second to none I must say. Reflex is still a little behind in both those areas, but my guess is that they will catch up very fast with this latest release of theirs.
Oh, I bought my Reflex online from MRC and Realflight from my local hobby dealer.
Best of luck choosing your sim.

I have used the past year truflite3d and absolulty love the way it feels on everything except auto's.
want to get realflight also.
I read on some guys home page ages ago that its best to make the sim as hard as possibel and i think he was dead right, at least it helped me a lot i think.
once u nail hovering in all orientations , mess up all the tx 's trims , turn up the wind , make it hard ... turn off the gyro and fly the tail.. put the heli in impossible positions and try to recover..
i dunno, but i think it helped me out a lot..

I now have both, and here's my take on them:
If a total noob asks me which one to get, I will recommend G2 hands down, no second thought. My main reasonings behind this is that you don't NEED the "ooh-aah" graphics for learning (you should be paying attention to the heli, not the background), and G2 comes with it's own controller. I am completely self taught on the sim, and my G2 controller looks like it has been through a war zone, but is still ticking like a Timex. If I had to put my own contoller through that punishment with an interface cord, I wouldn't have used it nearly as much as I did, for fear of beating up my Tx, hence I would not have learned as much.
Now, when I want to get on the 'puter and "play", I will break out Reflex and the 9C and have at it, but when I'm seriously on there to learn a new move over, and over, and over......I still use G2, and IT WORKS.
Most would still consider me a COMPLETE noob, especially when I tell them I have only been flying for three months. But, when I bust out the heli and can fly around the field inverted, and bring it in inverted and hover inches above the runway, that usually shuts 'em up. The computer & sim is probably one of the most revolutionary things that could have happened to a hobby like this.
