I use the webra P5 in my ergo 60.
I cant use 9+ degrees on the pitch. The engine cant handel it?
When the engine is cold = no probleme. But after about a halv tank the engine loose rpm.
Im using 5%nitro 15%aero save.

I think you have your engine running way too lean and suggest you do the set up from the start again provided you have not overheated and damaged the engine already.

Reset idle needle and main needle to 4.5T and 2T respectively. Set up your idle up flight mode to have about 70% throttle at hovering.

Start your engine, let it idle and leave your finger on the crank cover, the temperature should be like your forehead or slightly lower and STABLE. Otherwise adjust idle needle to achieve that.

Try to hover, if not enough power, lean the idle needle to a point where you can barely hover, note the smoke trail.

Switch into idle up mode and note the smoke trail, disregard the power available to you. Start leaning the main needle ONLY to match smake trails between hover and idle up mode.

Once matched, you should have enough power to fly around a bit. This is your starting point for fine trimming. Temperature is not too high and power is not too low.

From here onwards, whichever needle you adjust, you have to adjust the other one in reverse to compensate meaning you can open up more idle needle for lower temperature but you have to lean the main needle to compensate for power and vice versa.

Your finger should always be able to be left on the crank cover for a couple of seconds before feeling any pain from the heat. If you cannot, your engine is running to hot.

would those instructions work on the webra 35 redhead?
if so what are the starting needle positions for it?

if the setup is different, could you post it?

The same procedure will work on all 2 stoke glow engines.

I personally would say that Japanese engine manufactureres traded off performance for manufacturability and consistency so that you can set the engine up per their instructions. I would also say that this approach, while not a bad one, had spoiled most of the pilots and deprived them of the chance to get to know their own engine and to learn the essence of engine setup.

Please take a Toyota and a Ferarri for example, their difference in performance and handling requirements says it all.

As for starting needle setting, don't worry about that, just keep the main at 2T and adjust the idle to a suitable temperature. The key point is to match the smoke trail so that both needles provide about the same kind of mixture AND at the intersaction of their effect curve along the rpm axis, the sum of fuel from both needles provide a flat curve ensuring smooth transistion. Imagine a curve with fuel volumn on the Y axis and rpm on the X asix, plot the needle effect on the graph and you can visualize what I am trying to explain. From then on, adjusting the needles to move the intersacting point towards the high rpm side for more power (you will effectively be leaning the main needle and opening the idle more to compensate for temperature and fuel richness) and vice versa for more torque and better temperature. Remember that both needles have to be adjusted to ensure a smooth and flat cross over whever the intersacting point is.

I just got a caliber 30 and webra 35 from Cyberheli. Excellent machine. Thank you Stephen.

The Webra 35 needs to go through at least 1-2 GALLONS before it develops power. I started with high needle at 2T. I would get the heli revved up and it could barely lift off. After a few mintues of this, the head speed would just decrease even at full throttle. I would then go over and lean it out about 1/8 of a turn. Same process, now the heli seemed to have more power and it would begin to hover; after some time of hovering, the headspeed would die down again.

I would go over and lean it out again....and again.....and again. I am now at about 3/4T on the high needle and the Webra seems to have suddenly come alive with an amazing amount of power. I have been through one gallon thus far in this process.

This has been my experience and yours may be different. While my Webra 35 was breaking in, it acted as if it was running too lean. The dying headspeed is usually symptomatic of the engine being too lean and overheating; not with the Webra if you started out at 2T, and gradually leaned out the needle. Be patient. It will develop power!! My low end is at the factory setting.

I use 5% fuel.
