Default Payload-lifting for fun

I have a Raptor 50 with an O.S. 50 SX-H.

I am curious to know if anyone has tried lifting various weights with a similar heli, and if so, how much can it lift. I don't mean to go do aerobatics with, I mean essentially hover-move a few dozen feet.

I've seen a picture of a heli lifting a jug full of water. That has to be around 8 lb! I'd be curious to know what a Raptor 30, a Shuttle 30, a Raptor 50, and an X-cell 60 can lift.

Any feed-back?

A model airborne freightlifter. Go chinook!
Impress some people by airlifting one of those toy RC tanks at some event.

A 30 will lift a 8mm camcorder no problem.

Cool camera pod... got a close-up shot of that? What did you make it ouf of? Do you have a problem with getting oil all over your camera?

I made it out of 1/2 inch square balsa wood. It only cost about $3 to make it. When I go flying with it, I put the camcorder in a plastic bag and just leave the lens out, that keep the oil off it. You don't get much oil on it anyway, I don't try to do any stunts, mostly just hovering and forward flight.

I'm definitely not a terrorist, even though they never miss me when searching passengers in airports!

I'm interested in seeing the limits of the heli and my skill in piloting the "freight" to a precision drop-off. I'm thinking something like a 1-lb weight, to be placed inside a low-cut card-board box. 'Sounds like it would be fun. The smaller the box opening compared to the size of the payload, the more skill would be needed. Add more difficulty with higher winds, and score with time required to complete the drop.

Can the terrorist-seeking people please go somewhere else?
1. a plane is much cheaper to deliver a bomb and carry much heavier stuff
2. hiring a kid and promising that he will get into heaven is even cheaper.

I have a Caliber 30 with a TT36 and stock blades that hauls around my 2.5lb camera rig just fine. dont know a upper limit for the heli but I think another pound would be it. while hovering I've got caught in the rotor downwash and it was a bit hairy to get to clean air with the extra weight. Mike

I have a Caliber 30 as well, I'm a newbe. Got hovering down , working on forward flight. How well has your Caliber held up. Any upgrades you reccommend? I really like the Caliber, but I am not familar with anything else.

The Caliber is a good heli but the stock frame has a lot of flex along with the head. I like my stacked framed Century Hawks better but the upgrades are limited on them. Tower now as a lot of optional parts availabe for the Caliber now. All of them are really needed. Since your new to helis tho It will be a good while before you can feel the difference between most helis out there. Afterall the all do the same thing, hover and fly, its when your able to push the heli to its edge that things start to show up.
