Sounds like a TT39
Best fix is an OS 37 or OS 50!
if it is the TT39 and you want to fix it try the needle mod. remove the idel needle, file a small amout off the end of the needle so if forms a double angle taper to more of a point. (chuck it up in a drill and spin it while filling , doesn't have to come to a point to make a big difference) the start of the new taper, should not go more than 1mm back from the tip. richens up the midrange a bit so it runs a littel cooler without sacraficing top end performance. worked great for mine

You may also have crap stuck in your carb from the tank or lines. I had this problem for the first couple tanks through my Raptor 30 v2. Dissected the carb and found a few tiny slivers of crap from the inside of the fuel tank.
I'd check for that before modifying needles or anything else so drastic.

the engine is a enya 35 i took the tt39 out because i over heated it[:@]
ive been thinking of upgrading to a tt50, would i see the end of chasing needles? would my muffler still work? its the upgraded 30 one.

Just an idea but have you checked the pipe to the clunk (and in the header). Look for:
a) dropped off,
b) pipe perished
c) pipe collapsed
d) clunk blocked
Then, get an OS. Why are you overheating engines?

didnt mean to over heat it was just flying around and when i landed it and checked the temp it was way high, after that it lost performance and didnt have much compression.the os 50 is really thirsty isnt it?9 min flight times? dont think i would like that.

Dan, if you need the power an OS 50 gives then go for it. I'm happy with the 32 but would like to try the OS37. Just that little bit extra could be useful to me. Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus right down Santa Claus lane!!!!!!!!!

went to my LHS and they told me not to put a 50 size engine in they reckon id have a host of problems with it,and i dont want to convert it to a 50, i like how it flys now, just want it to run reliably with decent power,he suggested a os37. now ive looked into the performance of the 37 the tt39 and my enya 35, 1.4hp/1.35hp and 1.15hp on such a small engine is this a power hike of just a tad more? according to the stats my enya sucks lol. anyone got a 37?

To upgrade to a 50 is a bit expensive, 90 or so for the upgrade kit, 200 for engine and muffler... but you would not likely have any problems with it. The OS 50 tends to run cool, not very tuning sensitive, and makes bags of power. The bad news is it is very thirsty. I go thru a gallon a weekend.
I haven't flown the 37 but they are already becoming a popular upgrade here. After battling with a tt 36 for a couple months, a buddy of mine switched to the OS 37, and it really put a smile on his face. Trouble free right from the start. No substitute for good running engine and properly set up heli. Might be a good idea to have a local heli guy have a look maybe he can come up with something. Not sure of your financial situation, but i would recomend not spending too much time on it if you have reason to belive the enya isn't going to work well for you. Engines are expensive, but a good weekend has a certain value too. i spent a month of weekends on a lemon engine a couple years ago. I will never do that again. 8 days lost in a failed attempt to save 90$.

if i knew the 37 would be good id bang one of them in,money isnt the issue its just what i can justify to myself when im spending. i think a 50 is probably too thirsty for me. i dont wanna spend mega bucks on it because i want to get a benzin acrobat sometime.

I had a really naff engine when I built my first Raptor - think it was called GMS - and could never set it up to be consistent. Now I always stick with OS which have always "flown out of the box" but have a TT that I came by and it runs OK but OS is the best for me. I like the reliability that they deliver and I'll go 37 as soon as I can afford it (fraid money is an issue for me).

im still leaning towards a short boom 50 ie 30 size heli with a 50 size lump in it,just wondering if im gonna have problems with it,some say yes but some have done the conversion and say its great. i just dont think the 37 will give me enough of a power hike to justify the cost.[&:] so confused aaarrghh.

The 50, is by far the most popular heli in my area. A few guys here who have been flying frea and fury 90's are going back to the rappy50 as their main toy. not quite as sure footed as the 90's but respectable performance for cheap.

I just upgraded to an OS37 a couple of weeks ago. It runs really nicely and plenty of power too. Not that I am doing anything serious in the air yet, but you should see this engine respond to the throttle on a big climb out.
heli-john, go for it as soon as you can afford it.

Does it seem more like a leisurely engine - like not overworked? And is it economical cos they say the 50 is thirsty?

im a very happy man, i fitted my new hyper 50 today, running it reeeally rich, barely able to idle and its more powerful than i could have hoped for, man i have been missing out big time. fuel comsumpsion isnt to bad either im getting 12-14 mins out of a tank flying around with a headspeed of 1500 ish so maybe i can improve that when its run in?
anyone thinking of doin this conversion will not be disapointed.
how many tanks do i need to burn before i can say its run in and can start perfecting my rolls and flips and lean it out a bit?
