Default winter questions

Is it bad to keep gas in the tank while my rc stuff is stored for the winter?

Thanks.

YES! Remove your fuel from the tank and make sure all the fuel is out of the engine. I use After Run Oil in my Nitro cars when I put them away.

You can leave fuel in the tank as long as you keep it sealed; loop the fuel line from the vent line to the clunk line. As mentioned, you definitely want to clear the engine of all fuel and put after-run in it to keep it from gumming up.

Remove all fuel from your tank, and use an after run oil on your engine for sure. With my planes, the nitro will cause the fuel lines to go bad -they will need to be replaced if ignored -including the clunk line. With higher nitro contents, it is worse.

Never had that problem, but it will evaporate the nitro out and it will be flat. Better to suck the fuel out of the tank.

I also use Marvel oil in my engines when I store them. I use just reg mystery oil, I hear the tool oil works better.

So you guys don't fly in winter then? I'm hoping tomorrow will see me out there.

I've never had a problem with the fuel lines either. I loop back the fuel line to seal the tank to keep moisture out (alcohol loves to suck up moisture!) and to eliminate the evaporation.

heli-john: I should have brought a heli to work with me today; it was 72 degrees and sunny! Of course there was that 25mph wind thing.
