Hi Skuzzy,
I would suggest you call the Horizon number on the web site and ask for heli service. Try this number and see if you an get in touch with service. 1-800-338-4639 From what I have seen quite a few black maingears tend o rub a little on the top area of the sideframes. There are a couple of ways to fix this.
You could just get Horizon to send you a new auto rotation steel sleeve. It is the steel sleeve that has the bolt and nut on that is directly under the black maingear. Some of these sleeves are slightly out of tolerance. A new one could be more true and help this issue you have.
Another way is that you could remove the black maingear and do as I did and simply sand the top of the maingear with 200 grit sand paper. Put a sheet or piece of sand paper on a perfectly flat table and run the top area of the maingear over the sandpaper. This will remove a little of the gear. You can take up to 1 to 1.5mm off the maingear without problems. Make sure you use masking tape to close up the top and bottom of the bearing of the auto unit so no plastic dust gets in there if you decide to leave it in. If you remove the steel sleeve and auto bearing it is easier to sand flat and straight. Then reinstall the black maingear and it will be fine.
If you get the steel sleeve fix you will have to remove the black maingear as I described to do in the 2nd fix. So you could do both.
This will remove any rubbing. I have also heard of some that just let it wear in and eventually it will clear itself. It just depends on how you want to handle the issue and what your experience level/skill is really.
