Default shogun setup questions

Seems like a lot of knowledgeable people on this site, so I thought I'd ask a question.
My Dad and I have recently got into rc Helli's. We started with a jabo2 which turned into a parts machine for our new humming bird, which we love, and are having blast flying and learning! The Jabo came with a sim, so we're getting pretty good, and had to go out and get a CP. We got the Shogun 400. We're having a little trouble setting up the receiver (Hitec Electron6) our transmitter (futaba 7CHP) and getting the throttle to work. All our other controls work great, but we're used to the fixed pitch and can't figure out the channel assignments and throttle curve/cut ect.. our LHS guy said throttle is ch 6, but what controls it?

Thanks for any help, in advance...

Scott

throttle is ch 3, collective (pitch control) is ch 6. When you throttle up and down, if the radio is in heli mode it will mix throttle and pitch.

What LHS are you going to? HobbyTown?

Hey, thanks Crash. I'll pass that along to my Dad, see if he can get it going for the weekend (I might just have to move back in, lol). We've been going to Racing Devil Hobbies in Richmond, BC. They don't have all the parts, so we have to source them online sometimes, but it's nice having someone who knows the ins & outs on your side.

Nice list of models there, how does your Shogun preform compared to your .30? We're thrilled with our Hummingbird, even considering a brushless upgrade. That should be happening very soon on the shogun. Do you fly the stock landing gear on your shogun? After flying the HB with the G10 frame & gear, We had to mod our own for the shogun. I'll try to get a pic up this weekend. looks great...

Thanks again Johnson

As far as Shogun vs. Raptor 30... Hands down the Raptor is WAY better... E-powered are great for small areas or noise constraints, but if the fuel and land are available I would take a nitro over an electric any day. Only drawback is the entry price, but they repairs are probably similar for either heli.

As far as the landing gear.... no they are aftermarket. I had an accident and it tipped over and they broke, so I had to upgrade. Helihobby (www.helihobby.com) or rchover.com are where I buy my shogun parts. Jeremy at rchover hooked me up when I needed some stuff ASAP to get a review of the shogun ready for RCU (which I am still working on as soon as I can find someone closeby that can wring this sucker out)

Thanks for the complement about my hanger. It actually grew... picked up a raptor 50 yesterday

I have the Futaba 9CAP, so they should be similar radios. If ya need assistance with setting it up let me know. I don't remember what I Have for pitch and throttle curves, but either reply or pm and I can help ya out.

Also, for uploading pictures, click reply next to my post and it goes into "advanced edit" mode, which gives you a link to upload pictures.
