Default Headspeed help!

OK, I don't know how fast is fast! If I had to guess I would say my head is around 1900 RPM. Can someone poiunt out where I can find a highquality video with good sound of a heli flying with a certain headspeed? Perferably a Raptor 50 but I think about any heli will do as I am completely in the dark and can't afford a governer or a tach after splurging on my pipe, gyro, and digtal servos.

Well for some reason I can't download the Raptor 50 demo but my headspeed seems to be on par with the 60 in the tocuh video... I think.

I think it is hard to hear....by ear the headspeed on the Raptor 50 or 60 because of the gearing. A better option for now would be to try a tach. I have used the VD0 tach in the past with good results. They are cheap but a bit of a pain to set up right in the heli. With a little time and effort it will do the trick. The other more expensive option is to get a GV-1 and you won't have to worry about your headspeed ever again!

Here is a link to the VD0 mod! http://www.rcheliweb.co.uk/

Go to hints and tips and then look for DIY tach

The governors are a great thing. save some bucks up!

Yes. depending on blades, gearing, etc... it is very hared to "hear" a headspeed rpm...

If you have a airplane tach, just hover over it. It will see the blades fairly well with the heli about 1 foot high. I temporarily glued mine to a stick and stuck it in the ground. You can get them for about $30 or borrow one from an airplane guy.

Really nice demo but I really can't tell the head speed unless I can here the engine. The camera does not relay headspeed worth anything, For instance, you can't even tell the difference between 2997 RPMS and 5994 RPMS. They will look completely identical in NTSC format.
