Yup!
The Yellow/Black R60 on page one of this thread is mine. Feel free to browse my Gallery by clicking the link below!
As far as the gyration being mentioned that is most likely a result from running to low a headspeed or slop in the elevator linkage. The R60 will wobble in a hover if you run the headspeed to low with the stock dampners. You need minimum of 1600 rpm for normal and 1750-1800 in ID1 to tighten it up. Or, for $20 you can install the Rick's O-Ring Dampner system which lets you control your dampener firmness by using different o-rings. Nice upgrade that actually works GREAT.
Also, I have a JR8411 digi on elevator in my R60. It is tight and I don't get any "rocking gyrations" on the elev. But, I have seen other R60s do it and I think it is a result of slop in the linkages or servo output shaft/gear train. I think the output shaft needs some support and this could be what is causing the "rocking gryations" your LHS is mentioning. It is not a flaw in the design but rather an area on the heli that demands quality servos or some support. I am running 8411s on Elev, Ail, Collective. It is about as slop free as you can expect and flies like it!!
Again, the Fury is one fine ship. I had one. But, it is definetly a "second" 60 for those beyond basic aero/3D. BTW, the Fury has all the servo output shafts support in kit form! Does that tell you anything about 3D demands on servos?

RCAdd1ct, the good thing about the Raptor 60, is that if you choose to go that route, there are tons of them for sale on RCU,RR, and ebay. Daz...

Yes, that is the great thing about getting such a wide spread heli. The more there are out there, the more you can get help and the more parts, upgrades, and used items you can get. The only bad thing is that if you want to be original than a Raptor is not for you. But if that's the case your probabbly running a Webra engine with hitec servos using a Airtronics radio and a mechanical gyro.

OK. I just measured my truck and the height of the bed rails is 20 inches. The Freya's height is spec'd to 20 inches.
The Rap 60 is spec'd in the 18 inch range. Does anybody have a head button on a Rap 60 that can give me a overall height with the head button for a Rap 60?
I think I may have had my choice made for me as I am going to have to get a tonnue for my truck so I can transport my helis around. The 50 will fit in the standard cab the 60 will not.

The standard landing gear on the Freya are
very tall. If you change it out to the Hirobo
EX metal type or even the MA TuffStruts, you'll
get back at least 1-1.5" in height.

If I lower the pod will the T/R be too close to the ground?
I fly out of a grass field. Ground clearance is a plus to me.

Good idea! I don't want to see one more, my wallet's allready light enough from my last electronics splurge on my Raptor 50! Oh well, those electronics are most likely going to go into one of these two helis soon enough. Not untill I can hover inverted, though!

-- quote ---
The local hobby shop says that the Rap 60 goes through some weird rocking gyrations in a transition from FFF to hover.
-- end ---
Yep... it does want to "buck" like a horse sometimes in FFF, that's part of the fun... to tame the beast. Some think the swashplate could be a little "tighter", but we're missing the point, there's always going to be some trade offs since quality and value is difficult to put together in any product.
As for the lower freya landing gears, my pic shows the EX landing gear, aside from improving the looks, it saves the frame from the brunt of impact. When I was using the stock gears, it was normal to break the frames in a hard crash, with the EX landing gears, the skids are mangled (cheap), but the frame is intact which saves A LOT of time during the rebuild.
If you want to avoid tail strikes due to the lower profile, you can buy the X-Cell CF tail fin used on the Fury, it's the same bolt holes and is ALOT more rigid than the stock fins on the Freya. I went a bit further and cut out my own fins using G10, it's just that the smoke hides it from the pic.
BTW, the camera work was done by a pro photographer so the rotordisc is really captured well and you can even see the avionics inside the canopy (like the GV-1 amplifier).
All in all, you will be happy with any of your choices. Good Luck!

Thanks for the info.
I have decided to sell my Hornet CP Heli and my Corona Heli to provide funds for this adventure.
These and a Hobby-Lobby Partenavia should pay for my next heli and flight gear.
I am slowly easing out of me electric plane stuff.
Just not the challenge of 3D heli flight.

My Apologies to everyone if I deviate a bit...
RcAdd1ct,
I am interested in the Hornet CP as I live in a confined space and was wondering if I can use this to keep my thumbs sharp during weekdays after work. The flying field is quite far so I only fly regularly during weekends. Is it a good heli for letsay;
- practicing backward flying
- a little inverted hover thrown in.
- practice loops and rolls.

The flying of the CP Hornet is all based on two things.
1. Indoor space.
2. Flying ability.
I am sure you can do all you want given the above.
The only thing you might have an issue with would be the flips. They have a tendency to boom strike. Not sure if I just don't have the grips tight enough or the throttle curve right but I have seen a couple of boomstrikes on the CP Hornets.

Freya
I haven't owned a rappy, but if its anything like its .30 size little bother I'd go with the Freya by far.
Bearings on everything. The only upgrade needed is the slide block and that's not even necessary on the Freya if you check it every flight.
I hovered mine today and did some mild pattern flying and this is roughly my 5th time flying a heli (besides tons of simulator work).
I love this bird, compared to my .30 hawk this thing tracks like its on rails. I got a CSM 400 heading hold and I dont even use the HH function as the thing is so solid. IE, today I was hovering with a 5-10 kt wind gusting to 15 and the tail stayed put period.
Great machine. I set it up exact per the manual and ray's heli guide. Dial indicatied, and balanced everything. The thing is perfect, not even a blade tracking adjustment.
One thing I did notice thiugh, the stock blade covering lifts off the wood easy.
Anyone know how to remedy?
Thx,
Aaron

From what I understand, no 30/50 will fly like a 60/90 class machine.
Amoore:
I am glad you like your Freya.
