Purpose of Washout
What is the purpose of the washout assembly on helicopters? I was looking at mine and it seems like there could just be a link directly from the swashplate to the flybar. Is it to dampen the cyclic output or something?

Yes, except that your swashplate moves
up and down.
The purpose of the washout device is to
filter out the up/down collective inputs
while allowing the cyclic inputs to go to the
head.
