That's what everyone said about the TT36 at the beginning too, until the QC and other problems showed up later. Let us know what it is like after you have about 300 tanks through it. All of my OS's have well over that through them (some over 600!!!) and not one I have ever bought from TT or any other for that matter ever went beyond 160 (the best from a TT was 126).

All my TT's (4) were very impressive at first, but it didn't take too long before they started to loose power (wear out). In fact I had to eat a lot of crow after initially tooting them to flying buddies only to later have to eat my words.

So be careful with any recommendations of anything after only limited flight times on them.

I understand, I guess I'm happy because I have never had any luck with OS engines for my helis, I've had three, two of them I bought brand new and one used, none worked fine, always had some problems, then I have replaced the OS with HS engine, and it still runs great after at least 15 gallons of fuel through it, now I've installed the tt39 and it had only three flights on it, however, I've had 50 sized raptor before and it didn't perform as well as my 30 does with this engine installed. I'll let you know if I run into any problems with this engine

Patternfly, the TT39 is a awesome little motor, it will last just as long as the OS, most OS fans want nothing but OS, TT had there problems in the past, but just like most manufacturers they tend to make things right, which they have done with the TT39. OS had problems in the past too, but enjoy that engine, OS has some catching up to do in the 30 size market, and I'm sure that they are working on it !!!!

I've burned 9 gallons through mine and it's still running strong. However, I do have mixed feelings about it since the front bearing is messy.

The engine has been run on 15% CP with 3oz of synth. added per gallon. Roughly $7 per gallon savings over the 30% I used to burn to get less power from the old 32.

Hopefully these things can endure the test of time. An OS 40 sounds great; especially if it's ringed. But I doubt if you would be able to participate in any 30 drag races with a 40.

I don't understand why OS doesn't just up the bar alittle bit and do a 40. To do a 36 is kind of redundant to me. Yeah I am sure OS can make a 36 make more power than the TT39. But why not just over do it, and make their own 39. Or like was said a 40. The only problem I have ever had with a 30 sized heli is it available power. To me they are just not powerfull enough. And after you become acustomed to flying an 80 or 90 powered machine. The 30 becomes a little on the boring side. And also after being use to the available power from a big block heli, the lack of power from a 30 sized machine can get you in trouble sometimes. And the only way to get arround that that I have found is to move the little birds up to a 50. Which is a whole nother animal. I for one would love to see a YS 40. I think that would ROCK! But I know that they have no intentions on getting into anything smaller than a 60. Still it would be sweet. Anyone agree?

The new YS 63 4 stroke is a killer engine. I wonder what it would take to modify it for a heli engine. It has the power of any good 32 and the torque of a 4 stroke. Just dreaming. I wonder how some pilots cannot have good success with the OS. I have never met an OS I did not get along with.

I did not mean to sound like I don't like OS. Because I do. I have OS engines in a couple of my helis. And like all of them. But I just think it would be nice to have power on tap if I want it. Which for me the OS 32 is lacking a bit. Perhaps the 36 will be better. One may never know if it doesn't actually come to pass. Buy now that I have been running a YS 80 in my Vigor, I can say that I do like the performance of YS engines. I will still continue to like OS. But now I know why YS is as popular as it is. Nice stuff. And it would be great to see them compete in the little bird market. I know I would try one, if it became available.

Brian like you, I like OS also, but since I put my 1st YS in my Freya, I too see why they are so popular, they are an excellent running motor, with plenty power to boot. I know YS is not interested in the 30 size market, and now neither am I, I am only flying 60's now, and I have the OS70 in my R60 which is a nice running motor too. I think the only company that might come out with a .39 would probably be OS, and I'm sure that it would be a great engine too. Daz....

Which size helicopter is sold the most? The 30, 50, or the 60.

I would have to say the 30 sized birds. They are a great, cheap learners platform. And now days they can handle a ton of hard aerobatics. That would be my best guess. 60's are a blast to fly, but they are expensive to buy, and maintain. But once you get the feel for one, it is VERY hard to go back to a 30 for sure. Anyone agree?

I agree with Brian, I think the 30 size is the most popular simply because of the price to get involved, and fuel economy. I started out with the 30 size, and went to a 60, now thats all I fly is 60's and love em, and would never go back to a 30 at this point. I would maybe consider a 50 for the power to weight ratio, but I doubt it.

I still remember the OS 28-then 32F before the SXH came out ...I to would like to see a 39 or 40 OS..

A lot of guys that are top notch flyer's at our field still fly a 30 sized heli. One particular flyer that can do some stuff that will make you chin drop, I just had to ask why haven't you bought a 60 yet.

He answered I never get ahead of myself, my 30 will still do some things that amazes me even with the pipe I am running. He uses a long pipe similar to a plane and spent many hours tuning it correctly and to this day I have never saw him have to auto due to his engine dieing....

His motto is, never get rid of a heli or move up till you master what you have. He is about as close to mastering a 30 as I have ever seen. He does most any maneuver I have saw at a heli FF...

Personally, I just sold 2 of my 30's due to 2 60's I'm building NIB now, but one of my Quick 30 Pro's-RG's will be kept till they are unflyable.

I still have a couple af 30's myself. But I will say that now that I have both of my 60's running. They sit in the hanger a LOT.

At one point (many years ago) I had a Concept 60, a Nexus Deluxe and a LMH all ready to fly. Guess which I flew the most.

I'm a complete heli newbie and have a Raptor 30 V2 that will be out for it's first filights in the spring, but if I were to do it again I'd go for a .50 size heli in a heartbeat. Not much more than a .30, but from what I've been reading the power to weight is unreal, the autos are better than a .30 and yet the cost is still reasonable compared to the .60 size when it comes to crashes. Would you guys disagree?

Nope, no disagrement here. I will say that the docile nature of a 30 is a good thing while you are learning. But in the same token a good 50 could be tamed down to suit a learner, but still have the performance you ARE going to want in the future. I to would have gone with a 50 in the beggining if I had it to do all over again. But hein site is 20 20 as they say. Still you will love the Raptor, and it will take you very far. Have fun!

With the Seadu, Raptor, Century's you can start with the 30's and then build them into a 50 later. Learning on a well set up 30 is the way to go.

Actually, I have no plans to convert the 30 machine to the 50. By the time I'm ready for the 50 I'd like a whole new kit so that I always have two choppers ready to go. Now if I REALLY like the 50 I might convert the 30 over to a 50 so that I have two 50's always ready to go, but something tells me it's always nice to have a 30 in your stable.

Buzzin Brian - Docile nature of a 30 This weekend was the first time I had the opportunity to hover a RC helicopter (friends Raptor V1) and even after all my practice on G2 it still scared the crap out of me. Not for the crash factor mind you, but because those blades spinning at a high rate were for real now. When that model started to drift backwards even at a low rate of speed I started to worry. Anyone else ever get a little scared when flying due to the potential injury factor?
