i was thinking, it'd be pretty neat if you could get a helicopter collision avoidance system. and I'm not talking about the ground, i mean avoiding things like trees and whatnot (now thats a bad example, because a collision avoidance system would be much more useful for indoor helis). anyway the idea is, a few lasers (range detectors of any sort i guess) aimed in various directions around the chopper, and when they detect an object too close (say, within 2 of the rotor tips, depending on speed though) it automatically avoids it. it'd be pretty useful because there are times when i myself would want to fly in pretty cramped spaces, and something like this would be very useful. anything like it exist? (i know the uav heli's have it... anyway to intergrate one of those sensors into it maybe?)

you get what ye pay for...
actualy, unless its brand nbew or something i dont imagine it would be. look at the co-pilot. that thing is $125. i wouldnt call that too expensive... it has 3 axis stability... how much could a little thing like this cost (all that scares me is where the sensors go. i dont want to drill holes for sensors through the body! or even worse on top![

caliber 30 has that gapping mouth (which i happen to like!) and you could put somethin in there... aha what canopy rocks now!
