Have a venture, 401 gyro, jr8411 digital servo for tail.
Problem - Heli flies fine then all of a sudden tail will turn a hard 90, or just starts spinning as if you lost tailrotor all together.
A friend of mine has the same set up, & he is having the same problem. What do you think.
Thanks -

The more I read on this forum & others, it seems like a lot of people are having trouble with this heli & that gyro, no matter what servo they are using. Is there a problem we should be aware of. A friend of mine crashed the other day because of it, and I have read others have to. Could be DANGEROUS!!!

I heard the other day at the field that some people were having problems with the tail coming loose from the frame of the Venture and the tail rotor belt slipping or worse, coming off.
I have not had this problem with mine, but heard that tapping an extra set screw would help. Has anyone else heard of this problem?

Tailhook, sorry to hear of your delima!
Steve is probably correct about the servo. I have or have assisted the setting up of four Ventures in the past seven months. We put Gy401 with 9253 combo. All work flawlessly and are still going strong today!!! I am convinced that the 401 and 9253 combo is virtually bullet proof! Don't get me wrong, I love J.R. but I have to fly Futaba on my tail. I personally would not mix J.R. servo with 401
Tailhook, as far as tail flying off, sounds like a Rappy flyer trying to bash the Venture!LOL. Just inspect before you fly! You'll be alright.
Getting ready to put TT.39 in my Venture. It is hard to pull out my faithfull O.S.!!!!
Hope you get back flying soon!!

investment)! LOL You won;t be disapointed!

From: NAPERVILLE, IL,
And so ends the great tailwag mistery.
When you talk to JR they say their servo will not work with that gyro. When you talk to Futaba they say that servo will not work with that gyro. If both companys know that the two won't work together, you would think it might be in the instructions.
Never the less, installed the futaba servo & problem solved, flew this weekend & it flies great.
Thanks to everybody who gave input.
