What is the highest a RC heli (90 sized) can go and still be seen (controlled)?

It all depends on how good your eyes are. Curtis Youngblood has been known to put his up so high you can't see it before he starts coming back down, I wouldn't even want to try and guess how high that would be.

The simplest answer is as high as you can physically see it. The helicopter will easily travel out of sight if you're using a good transmitter and receiver.

I know you meant that as a joke but just in case someone took you serious ...
AMA Safety Code #10 under Radio Control
The operator of a radio-controlled model aircraft shall control it during the entire flight, maintaining visual contact without enhancement other than by corrective lenses that are prescribed for the pilot. No model aircraft shall be equipped with devices which allow it to be flown to a selected location which is beyond the visual range of the pilot.
So ... as long as AMA rules mean nothing to you ... I guess you could use binoculars.

Good Luck,

Wow Tippy,

Yeah I was just kidding. Looks like you know the AMA rules. I have to admit that I never noticed this rule. Perhaps someone has actually done this. This brings to thought the idea of using an onboard camera to fly. I have seen a picture of a guy sitting in his living room watching the tv while he flys his camera equipped heli. I wonder if anyone noticed this as a violation? When I saw this pic, it made me upset that someone would do something that stupid. What also bothered me was that he flew around his neighbors house! That's an accident waiting to happen if the camera quit working.
