i was curious to know what would be a good second heli. Right now I have a nexus 30 and would like to get into something that can do much more.
I am looking for something that can do some 3D that is not way up in price. maybe $400 or so or cheaper.
I seen the guys at the filed other day with some Fury's and they were awesome! I just don't have the funds to do planes and helis all the way like that. Just looking for something that will keep me occupied learning some aerobatics.
I can do a few things on a sim but it is very hard to orientate what it is doing on there since it is only a sim and hard to judge where it is at at times.

You can go with the new raptor V2, the caliber, venture 30 or even the hawk 30 sport. All are great flying helis and will provide good aerobatics. You can also go with the raptor 50 V2 for $469 and will be available with 600mm carbon blades. Always a tough decission as you will get a 1000 different opinions. Go with what you think will be right for you!!

yeah I have heard a lot about the raptor from a few guys. All good things. Just looking for a good machine that has good support with the parts as well. I noticed that the nexus parts are way up there in price.
I seen some other guys with better machines and there replacement parts are way cheaper. I guess Kyosho is proud of there stuff.

I went from the Nexus 30 to the Venture 30. I found with the 3D paddles on it was extremely touchy so I went back to the beginner paddles (not quite ready for that yet). I put the 32 from my Nexus and am very impressed with the power. I bought a Thunder Tiger .39 for later. I think this combo makes an awsome second heli. I have 0 complaints about it.
Matter of fact I did my first loops last weekend....loads of fun and easy tooo.....
I have also had the oportunity to fly the Caliber 30 and it too is a nice second heli. costs a bit more.
Hope this helps

Venture 30. who makes that kit?
I am looking for something that is from the beginning a good aerobatic machine and expandable for more. I don't want to be in same boat i am in now as to have one but need many expensive parts to get more out of it. Something that is good flying right out of box.
I been happy with my Nexus but became very bored with it and found the upgrades not worth it from what I hear.

JR makes this kit, it is 3D capable out of the box, a few simple adjustments.
as a matter of fact RCU Magazine reviewed this kit in November
http://www.rcuniverse.com/reviews.ph...ew&reviewid=46
Check it out it is what finally sold me on this kit.
parts are inexpensive the crash kit is only 55 bucks and that includes blades. I am currently flying mine with the blades out of the kit and have absolutely nothing to complain about. flies solid as a rock and CCPM is amazing. I could not believe the difference that made. Night and Day difference compared to the Nexus

sounds good! Thanks for the article link. I did not know it was reassembled already, a plus there.
It sounds like this is just what I am looking for and cant beat the price!
One thing though. If i installed a 46 or 50 what else needs to be changed? Motor mounts and blades? Just wondering what all needs to be upgraded with the larger engine.
I like the 30 size but I can see where it may be a pain a little later when trying to get more out of it. I notice on my nexus now I tend to bogg it down a lot when throwing the sticks around. May just be better of installing a good engine first off.

If you look through the posts here on the venture you will find a few references to the requirements to upgrade to a 46 (the ergo 46 motor mounts and tail boom) here is a link to start you out.

FlooredCOBRA,
You might want to take the time to look at the Century Hawk SE(30 size), Falcon SE V2(50 size), or Raven CCPM (50 size). I have the Falcon SE V2 and could wear your ears off bragging about it.
Click on the "WWW" link below to see some pics of my helis and the Falcon SE V2. IMHO I prefer it over the Sceadu, Venture, Raptor and Caliber. You will see pics of all those except the Caliber on my photo pages. So, I do have some experience with all of them. But, everyone has their own reasons.
Just get what you want and fly it silly!!

I will check it out. Thanks!
One question though, I noticed on a few links about the better helis is that they have CCPM. This may sound a bit silly but what does that mean? From what I have read it looks like something to do with the collective or something I think.
Thanks for the info!

CCPM is electronic cyclic collective pitch mixing, done at transmitter level with 3 servos connected directly to the swashplate....
you need 3 matched servos for the mixing and a capable radio...
Raven 50 should be good within your budget....

I would go for the following (in that order):
1) Sceadu 50 or Raptor 50 V2
2) Raptor 30 V2
3) Raven 50
4) Venture with Ergo Metal Head and TT 39 engine
5) Caliber 30
6) Hawk
7) Venture stock
8) Quick
Any 30 size heli will benefit from using a TT-39 engine.
If you chose a 50 size then chose an OS-50 engine.
Augusto.

Wasn't your question "i was curious to know what would be a good second heli?"......
....if so my response is a Quick 30 Learner....all metal, no upgrades needed- low price and 99% parts in stock at all times...flies great and very precise....nuff said!

oh okay I did not know it was the name of a heli.
I thought you was asking if I was a quick learner on 30 or learning on a 30 quick.
Or something like that, now done confused myself.

instaed of having mechanical bellcranks on the heli connected to the swash plate and servos your servos connect directly to the swash and are mixed electronically in the transmitter. now most all todays transmitters offer this feature.
advantages: less parts, lighter weight heli. (caliber30 come standard with both systems) slop free controls (crisp precise)
disadvantages: as a beginner have cumputer mixing skills, servos need to be higher quality/expense digital servos usually with high speed response times. servos under higher stress workloads. Rx battery drain a lil more noticable.
