when doing helicopter hovering manuvers the AMA descripton says to bring the helicopter up to eye level. then climb 2m
My question is what part of the helicopter do you bring up to eye level/ 2m ? The rotor disk? the center of gravity? or the bottom of the skids?

Technically, it is the skids. Because of the safety factor, wanting the blades above the pilot and the judges.
But, as a judge I would knock off a point or so for significantly different from skids at eye level, but more points if you were not able to hold whatever the established 'beginning' of the hover is.

As Jack said. technically it is the skids to be at eye level and deductions or amount there of are relative to the judges. But generally speaking (due to the safety issue) you will be penalized more for being too low then for being too high.
