Towers and Heliproz have the c-spec91 with pump at a great price. Towers also doesn't have the engine in its 2007 catalog! Phaseout? For general flying is this a reliable engine or do I spring for the sz hyper? I have 37 OS and Hyper 50 equipped Raptors which are dead reliable. The new 90 SE on the bench is waiting for power. Decisions decisions!!!!!!!!!

Hate to break it to you but if I were you, I would go YS. I just shelled a brand new OS C spec. Its the 4th OS in a row that has failed out of the box. I won't buy another one. I just finished installing my new YS in my heli. Its nice. I hope it runs as well as people say. Look at all the writeups in the engine forum on OS. They have really cheapened up the line. You can buy one, but why risk it when there are better engines on the market. YS is the same price.
The piston on my C Spec came apart in very few runs. That was the last straw. Good luck on whichever you choose.

I beg to differ. O.s engines are nice and many of the top pilots use them. I have used them for a long time and never had a problem, easy to tune and run strong. Just like raptors the only reason you here more complaints is because more people use them.

Ran the new YS today and it is nice and powerfull! Sweet so far. Yea, OS did make a good engine, I have run them for 30 years. Notice I said did. The new ones are having problems. Not all of them are bad, but more and more are quitting using them. They are peeling liners, having heat problems and others. Like TT, some guys really like them, some don't. I used to swear by them. Not any more. I just went through my closet of unused engines that I bought for future use. Its amazing how many of them are OS. Some of their old engines are bulletproof! Glad i stocked up on them a long time ago.

I've just bought an O.S 91SZ-H for my 90SE and haven't had time to try it yet. It looks like a really great engine. The c-spec/pump is also a good engine but difficult to tune. Tower is selling it for $249 and it used to be $329 so it might be discontinued soon, I'm not sure though.
