Default Rotor Head and Gyro Problems

Hi,
I have A Venture and got to looking at the rotor head today and there is a difference in the size of the gaps between the rotor head and grips. This is after about 5 flights but is not affecting the flight performance of the heli at all . The spindle is straight and the heli has never been crashed. I don't know if this could be the dampers, because I have heard they wear out quickly.

Onto the gyro. My gyro is a GY401 with a S3004 servo that will hopefully be replaced with a digital. Anyway, when I hover the heli the tail hunts, but when I turn the gain down all the way the hunting stops but the tail will not hold position. The only thing is that I was trying to adjust all this in 25 mph winds. Will this affect the adjustment of the gyro? Also I was not sure aout the delay setting, so it is set to 20. What setting would you suggest for the delay? Should I try adjusting the gyro when the weather is calm?

Does the tail hunt, or drift one way or the other? I had a problem once where I just needed to re-initialize it. Make sure the light on top of the gyro is solid red.

I also have a Venture, haven't noticed anything on the blade grips. I will look after work and let you know.

Default Gyro

Hi,

I just bought the Gy 401 from Aero Hobbies in Lewisville. Great place for heli guys in our area. Anyway, Andy told me to adjust the delay setting down to half and be sure that the digital mix is turned off, to use with a standard JR 537 servo. It may be that the S3004 is not fast enough to accept the signals from the gryo. It is do doubt a faster digital servo would be the best.

Also sent a pm.

Thanks,

I will probably go mess with the gyro in a few hours and see if I can't get it to work.

Thanks allr,

I took the heli up for a few minutes and with the gyroi delay set where you said the hunting has stopped and the heli is holding fine in 10 to 15 mph winds. thank you for the advice!

The rotor head is still acting normal but the gaps are still there. I hope this is not a problem beacuase I have to go to a fly in Sunday!

Thanks for your help

Sounds great. I do not know about the gap.

Where is the fly in this Sunday? Is it a heli event or planes?

The fly in is at the Fort Worth Thunderbirds field at Dutch Branch park in Benbrook. It is for both helis and planes, but I think it is supposed to be pretty windy this weekend so I don't know how many people there will be.

I looked at the gaps on mine. They seem to be about the same, but there is a little slop (axially along the blade pitch axis)

allr: where do you fly in Corsicana. Do you come up to Grapevine on Sat. I spend a lot of time at Cedar Creek and need a place to fly. Mark

Default Air Field

Mark,

Our club has a grass field at the City of Corsicana's Lake Halbert Park off of SH 287(just south of IH 45).

The weather has not be great around hear lately but come on by while you are down hear. There are about three of use who are tring to learn how to fly heli's. Though small planes are flown, by far the interest is large scale. 33 to 40% up Cap's, Extra etc. and warbirds. Now we have had some interesting times with the smaller birds.
