Default transmitter tray

I was just wondering where to find a decent transmitter tray. I would like to try one, but haven't been able to find one...

What are you thumb-and-finger guys out there using?

Looks pretty neat but seems to be on the heavy side with all that aluminium...
Do you have to take the shoulder straps off everytime? Seems to me a neck strap is by far less bulky.

It's really light aluminum.
You just slide it over your shoulders to put it on. It doesn't have to go over your head.

I don't take it apart. I just hang it from a hook in my car.
When I get it home I hang it from a hook or from a table in the garage.

petalrc.com

they are great, good quality, and cheap, they ship so fast you will think they have a bank tube tied directly to your front porch.

I just got one the other day. They relieve the hand stress so much from holding the TX.. I find myself more relaxed now when I'm flying

I set the hand rests as low as they go so my hands are in almost the same position as they would be without the tray, so I can use the sides of my hands to sorta press against the TX to help steady my controls. Yes I use index finger/thumb style.

I don't know how people fly with the trays with finger/thumb and don't let their hands touch the TX for support, I tried that man that's very hard to get precise control that way.

The unit from RC TRAY MAN is a much nicer unit than the Petal Unit. I purchased one at the WRAM show today. It's a little pricey, but weighs just over a pound and is EXTREMELY high quality, and includes hand rest. No cupholder though. ;-) You could probably add one, but I think that is a bit excessive.

Thanks Lee,

I have my hands full trying to appear in control of my heli, so the cup holder is not an essential item for me at this point

I haven't really decided if a tray is the thing for me. Seems like a good idea though.
I like the RC Tray Man unit, but need to make room in the budget for it...

Yeah, I know what you mean.

I can barely swallow when I'm attempting to fly my heli.

I do end up chewing on my lips alot though.

I got a nice set of Carbon Blades for 45 bucks and a proper blade balancer at the Show too.

Based on my short trial, I think the tray is going to help alot.

Just use a neck strap. Why clutter everything up with a heavy tray. I have been flying thumb and forefinger forever and use a regular futaba neck strap. Has always worked well for me.

Whatever floats your boat.

It's nice to be able to "let go" to hit a switch or make and adjustment without having to worry about dropping the Tr.

Even with a strap, if you let go, the unit will fall flat against you and probably move the sticks in an undesired fashion.

Lee
